Reverb box
« on: June 11, 2018, 08:20:19 AM »
Anyone ever seen one of these?  I picked it up at a flea market over the weekend.  Chrome on it is really good--just dirty from sitting around on a shelf.  I was intrigued by how closely the knobs on it match what is in 66 model buicks.   I did some searching on the web and looks like the "67" on the front is the year since I found some that had 66 on the front of them that looked the same.   Would be great under the dash of a Buick that still has the stock radio in it.   $45 plus USPS shipping from Mocksville, NC.

Dear Iain mid-60s Buick fans who are also into audio engineering,

That is cool. But what is a reverb box? I couldn't find the answer.

A super quick answer but here is what Wikipedia has to say about it:

It adds a time delay to a channel. Sort of adds an echo effect, making it sound like you are in a large room.

I saw one on a junkyard 67 Skylark a few decades ago. It was mounted in the trunk. I'm thinking it was a Buick item.

All
I had a friend in the late 60s with a 67 Pontiac sprint 6 cylinder overhead cam and stick that had a factory one of these. It created a really different sound. It seams like it was mounted in the back somehow. I have no idea how it worked but running over things like railroad tracks impacted the sound.

Had one in my 65 GS. Installed in the trunk. Purchased at a radio/tv store.
