If the running yard is 52 in. wide , 2 yards would do it! the dimensions that I have are 45 3/4 by 23 for the under the package tray piece and 52 by 43 for the truck floor! I need to make a template out of plastic or paper with the cuts in it and make it so it can be shipped! Jon

This is great info. I agree about the vinyl mats and rust. One trick I learned is to take some of the plastic chicken wire stuff sold at hardware stores and put pieces of it under the mat. This lifts the mat up enough to let some air in and decreases the likelihood of rust forming. It isn't great, but it's something.

I would be interested in a set of the right stuff.

Milton,

What do you mean by success ? Obtaining the material ? Making the liner ?

I'm sorry I shouldn't be so cryptic. I am getting to the point of putting a trunk mat in my 65. I did a search of the forum and this string looked to be the most informative but hadn't been updated for several months. I was wondering if anyone had successfully installed a mat to their liking and does anyone have a good pattern. My cars don't have a trunk mat at all so I am starting from scratch. The mat in my parents car didn't last to long after I got the car because I had every tool I owned plus spare parts in the trunk. Collage years didn't allow for much more in the budget.

No problem with cryptic just didn't understand. Besides I shouldn't be so direct. Attached is a picture of the trunk of my convertible. Two yards of the material from Clark's and used the vinyl mats that are what is usually sold for patterns. Be warned Clark's isn't bashful about charging for the material.

Dan

Thanks a lot for the picture.

I can still hardly wait to see your car in person.

I have contacted Clark's for a free sample.

Does the trunk mat actually turn into a 2 piece above the axle hump?

The trunk mat is made in two pieces. The forward piece that covers the trunk area over the rear axle is separate from the lower part. The forward piece comes down to the lower piece.

Is anybody up for making a pattern?
I need one if anybody can trace it out.

Apologizing in advance as this is a real old post. Apparently there was an effort to get a discounted bulk order for trunk material but don't think it ever happened and if it did I missed it. That material was spendy back in 2012 for sure. I haven't checked yet but wondering if there is any new info/sources available. I did just order the free sample from Clark's Corvair Parts along with the flat emblem clips for the trunk emblem (Part C712) per one of the part source threads in this forum. Is there a template available?

Hello Dwaine,

I don't recall a group purchase being discussed regarding the trunk material.
I did make a pattern from the rough drawings that gssizzler made of an original trunk mat. Presently I am in Florida for the winter and my templates for the pattern are back in Nebraska, consequently , I am not able to help you with that.
Here is a link to the thread I did regarding the pattern.

Loren,

Thanks for the reply and linking to that pinned post. Thought I had searched more thoroughly for info but somehow missed that post. Hope you are doing well and I suppose you are thankful to have missed the snow and cold up around your place. I have some friends in the area and it is brutal. Kinda like being in western Wyoming :laughing7:

You are very welcome Dwaine.
We are doing well here in Florida. My rehab on the place we bought is nearing an end , so there is more time to do things other than remodel. lol
I am happy to be missing the terrible weather back in Nebraska, but also looking forward to getting back there and the Sport Wagon.
