Here's a strange question for the gang. For the big washer that is bolted inside the crank pulley to the damper; what color should it be? When I dissembled my engine, it appeared to be about the same as the pulley, so I painted it the same black as the restored pulley. And I see that Mark Ascher's washer is painted black in the picture I have of his engine. However, the engine section of the '65 brochure shows all of them to be a silver color. Pictures attached. Any advice/experience on what the proper color of the washer should be?
Also, in doing a bit of research on this, I ran across a note in the assembly manual that the embossed timing numbers on the timing cover should be painted yellow. Correct?
And that leads me to also ask, was the milled timing line in the damper painted? Color?
Amazing what's coming up that I haven't thought much about before.....
