I'm about 70 miles from a major port in Newark, NJ. That's where the used containers in my area come from. The service I purchased it from took my order, drove up there to retrieve, then dropped it off at my place. The service was local, so that kept the price down. Services operating from major cities like Philly or Allentown were in the $2500 range. A 20 footer is similar in price as there is higher demand and less supply.
Near new 'one trip' containers are in the $5-6k range. One in this condition is referred to as 'WWT' or wind & water tight. It has some patches but is still structurally sound. Could likely still be used for shipping but it's 14 years old, most get decommissioned after 10 years or so.
On Sunday, I cleared out one bay of my attached 2 car garage... moved out my Kubota and JD tractors, a log splitter, and wood chipper/mulcher into the new 'shed'. Then I took down 80 ft worth of old fluorescent lights and replaced them with 4 of the Costco LED lights.... what an improvement!
