Speedometer Green Turn Signal "Filters" - my crazy idea
« on: November 22, 2017, 11:14:40 AM »
I wanted to get your thoughts on my crazy idea -

The green rectangular turn signal lens/filter that are on the dash (right below the speedometer) - I know you can flip these around to expose a fresh side of the filter... But what about taking a sheet of 1/16" transparent green acrylic?

Well, I ordered a small sheet of green transparent acrylic.

It hasn't arrived yet. Thoughts?

I'll suggest giving it a light blasting to texture the surface, at least on the back side. That will diffuse the light so you don't see a bright filament thru the green 'window'.

If you want to some extra work, put a couple of LED's on each side and make them flash sequentially!

Interesting that this should come up.  I have been on a search for a solution too.

I wasn't able to find the plastic that you found Dan, but I have found a spray paint, Krylon stained glass paint, that may work.  The Summer Green color looks like a good candidate . I need to get into town and see if one of the craft stores stocks it.

Yes I have a blast cabinet and both metal and wood band saws. Need to get some other blasting media other than what I have on hand.

Certainly do have one, should be able to get it locally.  Need to make a couple of calls.
