Thanks!
'66 Skylark GS convertible with 3 speed manual. One of 136.
Missing: original engine, trans, shifter, rear axle, front buckets, console, hood.
Includes: 65 LT 401, engine mounts, exhaust manifolds, bellhousing, most (?) of clutch linkage.
Needs floor and trunk replacement and qtr panel work.

It was a parts car price and it's in parts car condition.
I was not planning on buying any more projects! This one just found it's way to me so it must be fate!
I don't have a plan for it yet. While I'd like to jump right in and start restoring it, my time is better spent on other projects that need far less work, like my 65 GS!

I'll post some pics after it gets here.

Congrats Walt - looking forward to the pictures.

If you’re interesting in selling the ‘65, I’d definitely be interested.

Finally got it home today!
Had to put new tires on the trailer and get my F150 out of semi-retirement for the hauling duties!

I'm thinking it could and should get restored. Not to a concours level, but just to make a fun driver out of it. Although it's a very rare build, 1 of 136, it's missing it's original drivetrain, and there doesn't appear to be any documentation that it is a 3 speed manual car.... no stamping on the cowl plate, and didn't see a build tag in the rear seat. Too bad Buick no longer has production records on their car. To me that means I'm free to put a better drivetrain in it, like a 425 with a 4 or 5 speed, and paint it the color of my choice. We'll see. I'm got lots of thinking to do on this.

It's fairly straight, but floor is badly rusted. Trunk isn't horrible, but needs replaced. Rear quarters need some patching.
I likely have most of the parts needed to put this car together. I will need a pair of buckets and find (or make) some rear seat frames.

Here's a pic of it at Nick's place where it's been residing since he rescued it from Philly:

Are there no codes on the cowl tag, or was it built in Freemont such that we don't know the codes?
I like the F150.  I have never actually seen one of those Nite trucks in person before--did it come with the cowl induction hood on it--or is that just a shadow I am seeing in the pic?

Dear Walt and mid-60s Buick caregivers,

I'm thinking it could and should get restored. Not to a concours level, but just to make a fun driver out of it. Although it's a very rare build, 1 of 136, it's missing it's original drivetrain, and there doesn't appear to be any documentation that it is a 3 speed manual car.... no stamping on the cowl plate, and didn't see a build tag in the rear seat. Too bad Buick no longer has production records on their car.

It is unfortunate that there wasn't enough so that you could bring it back to factory condition, but as you point out, there is no point in crying over spilled milk.

To me that means I'm free to put a better drivetrain in it, like a 425 with a 4 or 5 speed, and paint it the color of my choice. We'll see. I'm got lots of thinking to do on this.

That's the spirit Walt!  Go for it!  :hello2:

. . . . Just stay away from d'em JATO rockets! . . .

Cheers, Edouard  :occasion14:

Are there no codes on the cowl tag, ......

Brian, It's Baltimore-built. They didn't put much on the cowl tags. This one just has 'R C'.
I believe 'C' is the belt line molding. 'R' is usually thought to be rear seat speaker, but I don't think that's the case here.

The F-150 is the only vehicle I ever bought brand new. The 'Nite' package is just cosmetics... blacked out trim, side stripes and decals. It's a plain hood. The 'Lightning' came out in 1992 and was the performance package.
