!968 Buick 350 into a '65 Skylark question
« on: November 13, 2017, 09:11:37 AM »
Hi,

As I slowly collect parts for this, I find more potential roadblocks. I have the motor ('68 2bbl 350 from an ST300-equipped car) and a transmission (Super T-10 from a '77 Trans Am, with a 26-spline input and 32-spline output). I was told by a driveline shop that since the engine came from an automatic-equipped car, that the crankshaft may need a bushing/bearing to accept the input shaft of the transmission. Does anybody make this or is this going to be a custom piece?

Thanks,

Rick

That's the pilot bushing. The end of the transmission input shaft fits in to it.
It's a standard part, only a few bucks from Rockauto or local parts store.
I'm not sure if the 350 crank is fully machined for the bushing. The OD of the bushing might need to be turned down to fit into the crank.

Also make sure the left side of the block is drilled/tapped for the ball stud for the z-bar. If it's not there, it can be added.

Hi all,

A very elementary question that I failed to ask...what do I do about motor mounts? Will the '68 350 mounts work on my '65 frame? If not - then what?

Thanks,

Rick
