Engine "stop lift" kit ?
« on: October 11, 2017, 11:28:23 AM »
Hi Guys:

I was attempting to organize my parts, and I came across this Buick "engine stop-lift kit," and I'm hoping you can provide me with more information about it.  Looks to be a dealer item.  Any idea what years/models/engines it fits? Here are a couple photos:

Dan, Loren,

I've got a number of those at home. All from Chevrolets. There was a massive GM recall in the late 60s dealing with motor mounts.
The rubber between the engine mount plate and the frame mount would deteriorate and come apart. The side of the engine would
torque upward if the rubber separated and sometimes the throttle would jam. That's what drove the recall.

Instead of replacing motor mounts, GM used various brackets & cables to prevent the engine from lifting on acceleration.
Just pulled them off both mounts on my 66 396 a few weeks ago.

Found it!

1965 and 1967 Buick Wildcat and Electra, and certain early production Cadillacs.
The safety recall was issued in July 1976.
Here are the full details, all 33 pages of it:

Hello,
I was reading older threads and became interested in this.
Does anybody have one of these for sale?
Thanks,
Robert
