Who is in the crosshairs of hurricane Irma?
« on: September 08, 2017, 09:38:12 PM »
Dear mid-60s Buick owners who are weary of the weather,

After hurricane Harvey, everyone is a bit more nervous about hurricanes and if there is a hurricane to be nervous about - Irma seems to qualify.  If you aren't into extreme weather, you might not have the National Hurricane Center in your bookmarks:

http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/

At this moment you can find information on Irma at this link:

http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/#Irma

The link I find most useful is the forecast cone that gives you some idea of where the hurricane is headed:

As you can see, some of our 65GS regulars are clearly in the crosshairs of Irma and may be already evacuating.  Evacuation seems unusually tricky since exiting Florida may still leave directly in the path of the exiting storm.  The path has been waffling from West to East over the past few days meaning what seemed like a safe evacuation destination could instead still leave you in great peril.

All you folks in harm's way know that our prayers and thoughts are with you.  If you can, do let us know how you are coping with the storm.

Sincerely,

Edouard

Thinking of and praying for those remaining in Florida, especially those in the path of Irma.  I see 142 MPH wind gusts reported in Naples!  Looks like there's nowhere in the state that won't be impacted.

Had breakfast with friends that have a winter home near Ft. Myers.  They are on edge awaiting word on what will be left of their home from a neighbor who is hunkered down across the street.  At least they are safe in Michigan and only have to be concerned for their property.  Others are not so blessed.

Wheelz is in Tampa. Hoping he gets through this ok.
Irma seems to be defying predictions of her projected path, presently she's taken a slight path eastward.
