It's a 64 so it's a skylark.

I see that is says "64" down on the description but they call it a 65 in the title.  I have never seen the rear of a 64 with the taillights out but that looks the same as my 65 (maybe i am wrong).  Do any of the 64's have the full taillight across the back?

From what little knowledge I've gained over the past few years, that looks like a 65. Is it a real GS??  :icon_scratch: We would need someone to go over this one in person to find the GS specific items. The VIN would also reveal the year, unless it's been altered. It's also possible that the seller made a simple typo, and never caught it prior to posting the ad.

Note that the ad says "350 Chevy crate engine", so what became of the GS engine mounts?? :sad1:

I'm not ready to call  :bs: on this one just yet.  :hello:

Maybe I'm just tight, but a 70% project for $6000 sounds pretty high to me.  With the Chevy 350 it's more like a 50% project.

That car has been on Craigslist for at least 6 months. If it's a first class paint job, it may be worth asking price. Anyone price paint jobs lately?

Vin in 65 will only reveal a V8 Skylark (444). It wasn't until 66 when the GS received it's own vin (446) if i remember correctly. I believe it to be a 65 also but with the motor gone you can't check for a LR code so maybe the core support with the battery tray mounted on the left.Front fender trim or maybe mounting holes in quarters for Gran Sport emblems.      Tom

Tom, you are correct about the VIN not specifying a 65 GS vs a Skylark.   :notworthy: What I meant getting the VIN to verify the year, since there seems to be some uncertainty on that front.
