Dear Ted and mid-60s Buick fans of super-sizing . . . .

Your plan is the same as I had in 1992 for my Wagon.  I purchased a junkyard engine- a 76 455- and was going to
put it in my wagon as it was.

. . . .

So many mistakes, but it started with just wanting to use a 76 455!

I just hope someday to get past all of them! . . .

Cheers, Edouard  :occasion14:

To wrap up this thread, I found a very nice 350 in a '68 Skylark that was getting an LS. Allegedly 89K original miles, but who knows. Compression was 90-100 in all cylinders, no smoke, and it ran very smoothly. He wanted $650 and I paid $500 - removed and delivered to me. I'm pretty excited since this is more of a straight drop-in than the 455 would have been. Plus, the 455 I was getting needed new heads at the very least and I don't even know if it was a running engine. Thanks for all of your input!!!

Dear Rick and mid-60s Buick fans of cool cars!  :glasses9:

Congratulations!  :icon_thumright:

Glad you have solved your power-plant problem!  You might want to paint the valve covers Nailhead green so that your 350 looks like an engine that Buick would have installed in 1965.  You can also reuse the 1965 power steering pump and most of the brackets.  So if you like, you can make your car really look like it left the factory with that engine.

350 install is a snap!    Seems like most brackets from the 300 bolted up- one on driver's side from 300 needed a exh. manifold bolt but I skipped that.  Save  and use the 300 pulleys!
Cheers,
Ted

This was wicked fun with the 350/TH350.  Sold the car, kept the engine

It currently has a 225 V6. I'm getting all the brackets from the donor so between the two cars and other parts cars I'm hoping I have enough stuff. Can't wait! That was a nice-looking sedan BTW.

Dear Ted, Rick, Chuck, Jim, and mid-60s Buick "like it period correct" types,

350 install is a snap!

Thanks for the photos with the Nailhead green valve covers and the 1965 power steering pump!  You supplied the picture that was worth 1000 words!!  :icon_thumright:

Cheers, Edouard  :occasion14:
