65 GS Engine mounts wanted

I am looking for a set of engine mounts, brackets, and adapter plates for my 65 Skylark, to install a 401. A GS setup.
Also would like to know if there is a kit available to install a 66 ST400 into the 65 Skylark.

The ST400 is a bolt in. You may need to move the transmission mount, I don't remember for certain. I have that setup in one of my cars.
The other difference is that you are going to need a '67 shifter, due to the 3 speed automatic. There is a kit available from Shiftworks that does the conversion from a 2 speed auto shifter to a 3 speed. It also uses a cable rather then the solid rod linkage. Slick setup.

Yes, the ST400 is longer, so frame mounts need to modified. It's easier on a Skylark frame since there isn't a reinforcement on the inside of the frame rail like a GS or convertible. Might just have to drill new mounting holes in the frame.

   A 2 speed shifter can be modified to work but it's a tight fit. The Shiftworks kit is a nice solution.

   The drivehaft will need to be shortened as well.

 Here is a link to a set available on the BCA forum. These are not mine. I inquired about them. One of the plates that attaches to the motor has been broken and welded, so I passed on them.

If you are not a purist for originality, these plates can easily be fabricated.  Any machine shop should be able to drill mounting holes in a proper thickness steel plate.  A solid plate would be a little bit heavier since the cast iron plate is thinner and the bolt holes are raised bosses.  I'm sure someone here would have an original plate that could be used as a pattern to get all necessary measurements.

Questions arise here and on other sites needing these plates.  If someone were to duplicate this plate, it would probably be worthwhile to make several extra sets to sell.

Just make the motor mounting plates out of aluminum the correct thickness using originals as a pattern. Did this on Bob's car many moons ago with a 4spd. & 4000 + rpm clutch dumps. Of course we have the engine held in place with a chain. Haven't even cracked one as of yet.
