Just wondering, did you not like headers? Performance issue?

Hi George, these headers came with the car in an unmarked box. I sent them out to get jet hot coated and had a local guy install them and new exhaust. They sound great and it feels faster BUT as I discovered while doing an oil change, you cant get the oil filter out without pulling the headers. I also found out this morning that you cant pull the starter without pulling the other side header. I got the funny feeling someone lied to me about these headers being the right ones for this car. Anyone else find this problem?

The starter is tough even with manifolds on these cars.

Yup, Those are the correct hedders. I'm guessing the instructions didn't come with them. You need to switch to a V-6 oil filter. Fits in and out with no problems. I use a late model V-6 filter. The Napa #is 1522 I think. If you deicide to keep not to go with manifolds I'll go under the car & double check the #. As for the starter, either way it is a PETA. In 22 Years, I've only had to replace the starter once. It's really not a high maintenance item.

Thanks Jerry ,Im still up in the air about whether to go back to stock but I sure dont want to go through this crap a whole lot of times. damn headers look like hell from all the scraping to get them out. sure didnt do much for the jet hot coating either LOL

I am interested in the headers if you end up going back to stock.

They started with the starter back in 65 and built a car around it
