Dear RVA65GS and mid-60s Buick parts hounds,
It's probably just me but I find this type of price gouging a bit disgusting.
I'll be the first to agree with your point, but unfortunately, it only takes one buyer who is a sucker and the seller makes his profit.
Classic cars are out of the realm of utility, so prices aren't bounded by pragmatism. If you look at the amount of money that really rich people sink to rare cars, their actions aren't being driven by reason.
That's my fear about NOS parts market. Eventually the parts do dry up. If very wealthy people start bidding for such parts - us regular guys are simply going to be outbid. The mid-60s Buicks are a mixed blessing. They remain not as popular as Buick's later and flasher muscle cars, so people with more money than sense, shouldn't be interested. Still, people with more money than sense frequently get bored and look for something different.
I want enough interest in mid-60s cars so there are parts, but not too much interest such that I can no longer afford the parts.
Oh well, . . . . Edouard
