Based on our examination of the car, it appeared to be a real deal 65 gs 3spd convertible. It had the proper carburetor and even protect-o-plate. The owner (then) was the original buyer. If I recall correctly he had ordered a 4spd skylark late in the year and they upgraded him to a GS but with only a 3spd. rare car. The order form which I reviewed was for a skylark but the engine matched the vin so It seemed numbers matching to us. I would be interested in knowing if the original buyer is the seller now because this price is much higher than our last quote.
The frame, quarters, fenders, floor, trunk floor, trunk lid and hood were all rusted through at various spots. The frame seemed rusted through on both sides. Every body part was rusted.
Despite the above, this car is a really great (rare) color and has some tough stuff to find, like the order form, protect-o-plate, and 3922 carb, numbers matching engine, correct rally wheels and the 3spd. It would be awesome restored and Mark and i almost talked ourselves into the project in the past (albeit for a much lower purchase price). I hope someone restores it because it would probably be one of a kind car with this combination of color, top and drive train.
