New to the forum!
« on: September 10, 2015, 09:54:30 PM »
Good evening,

My name is Todd and I was lured here from the v8Buick forum.  I am currently restoring a 65 Gransport convertible 4 speed car that has been in our family since new.  We are nearing motor install and interior, so we are rapidly approaching the little details which is of course where these things get really difficult.  I will be posting up looking for some help on the stuff I'm missing and looking for your collective expertise to get this project on the road.  My hope was to make the GS nationals this year, since the car is 50, but that is not looking possible.  I've attached a few photos and look forward to getting to know everyone.

Hi Todd,

Welcome to the team!  We're glad you have joined us.  I'm sure you'll find a lot of willing enthusiasts to help with your restoration.

I am also restoring a 4-speed convertible.  But I'm way behind where you are.  If you'd like you can follow on my restoration thread: http://65gs.com/board/index.php?topic=2075.0

Your car looks great.  Is the color black or dark blue?  And can you tell us where you got the bright white interior?  I'll be putting a white interior into a Verde Green car.

Post more pictures when you can, including the engine.  And I'd encourage you to start a thread in the "Projects and Restorations" forum.  That way we can follow your progress and chime in along the way!

 :cheers2:

Looks like you are doing a great job on the restoration. Suggestion - paint the windshield posts white as well as portions of the interior where the metal will be exposed after the interior is installed. See http://65gs.com/board/index.php?topic=862.15 post #106 for a picture.

Dear mid-60 Buick welcome wagon, . . .

First things first, Welcome Todd to 65GS.com!  :hello2:

My name is Todd and I was lured here from the v8Buick forum.

I cannot tell a lie, I'm da' feller who laid that trail of breadcrumbs . . . . .  :laughing7:

I am currently restoring a 65 Gransport convertible 4 speed car that has been in our family since new.

Your Buick is more lucky than my trusty wagon.  She didn't join our family until we purchased her second-hand in 1968.  After that though things definitely started looking up!

Keep the faith.  My poor wagon spent her 50th birthday also without an engine, but things are looking up now.  As you can see from the responses to your introduction, not only have you found an enthusiastic community, but a very knowledgeable one as well.  Your restoration has just gotten quite a bit easier even if you don't realize it yet!

Best of luck getting your family heirloom back on the road!

Cheers, Edouard

Hi Todd,

Along with everyone else, welcome to the forum! I second the motion from Chuck to start a thread in the projects & restorations section as a one stop place for any questions, parts needs, advice, etc. that you might have. Another 4 speed convert - wow.

Welcome aboard Todd. Although I currently do not own a 65 GS, they have always been a favorite of mine.

I think your car might be Midnight Aqua, which is a fine color indeed.
