Finally got my 65 on the track. Finally.
« on: June 06, 2009, 10:35:21 PM »
Well it was a gorgous day. The air was not good but still a great day.

My first pass, 12.80 at 104.5- 60 ft 1.85

Second pass, 12 50 at 106.4-60 ft 1.80

Third pass , 12 36 at 108.7-60 ft 1.74

Forth pass 12.40 at 108.4-60 ft 1.71

So all in all it was a great day at the track. I'm smelling 11's on a cool night, bigger jets and a little more timing.

It was stock appearing day and Our own Buick buddy Yacster took home the big trophy. 64 Riv 425 Nailhead. 14 .50's.

And Phil in his 73 was runner up in his heads up class. 13 second buick whooped some serious mopar butt today!!!

Nice times Joe.. very respectable!

I agree...  I think with some tuning, 11 second times are well within your reach..

Thanks Chris. It was a blast. It's been way too long for me. This is my first day back on the track in like 10 years or so.

It's no big quest for me to get it in the 11's but I think it might get there.

Well here's an update. I believe I am getting way too much slip out of my conv. So i'm looking into a new Coan. According to Larry the Wizards formula, i'm slipping an extra 1000 rpm's going through the traps.

So standby and let's see what i get out of this combo. My buddy got a second out of a new converter in the area i'm in. As far as times go.

I believe he went from 12.50 to the 11's!!!

Hello Joe,

I was wondering what kind of power plant (motor) that you were using.   Was it a nailhead?  Glad to hear you got out to the track.  I took mine out for a ride today and I know who you feel.

I don't think a nailhead will push that mass of weight into the low 12's. 3950 lbs.

It's a 455, 30 over goobs of home head porting, TA C113, roller rockers, MSD Pro Billet Dist, New Demon 850, upgraded oiling. T400 trans, 3500 stall, and I think it's slipping so i'm saving for a new one. So I might see 11's with this upgrade alone!!

The rear is a 8.2 in 10 bolt with 355's and a TA girdle cover, rear air bags with boxed lower control bars.
