New around here
« on: June 22, 2015, 08:36:54 PM »
Hello all,

This is my first post on 65GS. I have the same goofy, misspelled username over on the V8Buick and AACA forums and am sure I have run into some of you on those forums.

I have a few Buicks: a 1961 Lesabre bubbletop, 1962 Skylark convertible, 1967 GS400 convertible, and a 1970 Stage 1 GS that is currently under restoration. And most importantly, I just bought a beautiful 1965 Skylark GS. I will post some info on that car in a seperate thread but am really excited to own one of the best looking of all the GS cars now, the 1965 GS. I always thought the '67 ways the best looking year until I found this new '65.  Anyway, glad to be aboard!

Welcome Stacey. If you would, tell us where you are located. And of course we want to hear more about your new found 65 GS.

Well that's kind of complicated...my cars are in Minnesota, near the twin cities. I am living in Switzerland for work for the next couple of years. I come back to MN a couple of times a year. My mission this trip is to drive each Buick through a tank of gas and put them all back in storage. I also purchased the '65 this trip and brought it home.

Don't worry Edouard, a Sportwagon is on the list. You will notice each car I have is from a different model year. I want to get a Buick from each year 1961 through 1970 if space, finances, and my wife allows. So I will be looking for a '68 Sportwagon at some point!

About my car - It's a Flame Red hardtop with red interior. 4-speed with consolette and shorty console between the seats. Black vinyl roof. 58,000 miles on the odometer which I believe to be true judging from the condition of the car. It has the original door panels, headliner, and back seat but new carpet and front seat covers. The 401 is all stock, with the chrome dress-up kit. The previous owner did a frame-restoration and did a very nice job. He added a wide ratio Muncie transmission, repop 15 inch Rally wheels with redlines, and Hothchkis front and rear sway bars, and front discs. The original 14 inch steel wheels, T-10 transmission and shifter, steering wheel, and a few other parts were included too - all of which will be going back on the car at some point.

Nice looking car. Thanks for the pictures. One of the favorite color combinations for 65 GS's at the BCA meet this year. There are many forum members located near the Twin Cities. If you need any assistance someone should be able to provide it. Glad you decided to join our group in addition to the others.

Yes, very nice indeed. Welcome to the group, there are some very knowledgeable and helpful folks here.
If you just want/need to run some fuel through those cars I'm sure there would be some volunteers in the TC metro area.

Welcome to our Sandbox

That's a really nice combination of personalized and standard options you have on your new ride.

It looks like there was a lot of care that went into creating it.

Having the original parts in addition is also a huge plus.

Once again Welcome and keep us updated.

Welcome. Beautiful 65. I even noticed you have the early Gs emblem on the grille. That's one awesome car.
