65GS 401 radiator
« on: March 15, 2015, 07:45:41 PM »
I'm starting the hunt for a radiator for a 65 GS 401 , 3 speed manual trans , non A/C car .
It doesn't even have to be in real good shape but one that has good tanks .   Something good enough to be recored .
I'm seeing some on E bay that says they will fit but aren't they suppose to be a cross flow ?
Do they interchange with anything else ?

John,

Yes they are crossflow. I think, but not 100% certain, that they are unique to 65-66 GS.
Keep in mind, all the factory GS radiators were made for automatic cars. For the stick cars,
they used a couple of threaded plugs to block the cooler lines.

Thanks for the info Mark .  I kind of thought the auto and manual trans cars used the same radiator but just wanted to let everyone know what I was looking for .

Oh that's right Jim !  I forgot about that .    Now that the weather is getting nice I need to get my old 6.2 diesel out and make a trip down there .     (And soon before the addition on our house starts )

They are cross flow and the upper spout is different between an ac car and a non ac car.

I have an original Harrison cross-flow radiator from my '65 GS. It has been re-cored once, and then repaired once. The tanks are great and you can rear Harrison on it clearly. Id is from an Automatic car, so it does have trans cooler line fittings in it. It,s presently has a "4 core" set up but it is easily re-cored depending on what you are looking.

So, are  you willing to sell the radiator you mentioned?  Not sure I understand what you are saying.

if you do want to sell it, I have been in contact with a guy in Ohio who bought a 65 GS in pieces and he is looking for a radiator.  Please send me a PM if you want to sell it and I will get you in contact with him.
