Impeccable & articulate attention to detail John!  She'going to be a beauty for certain!  I only WISH I had the same ambition that I once had, that you have shown. . . . I'd be looking for another 65.  (I'd prolly have to consider Jacks 65 half-way finished 65 GS Vert. .  :headbang:.)

Many thanks for the photos! Great research and attention to detail. I knew about the KF but not the other details. Those marks have to be some kind of in-process checks made during either the transmission assembly or installation.

Very welcome Don .  Its a chance for me to give back to everyone here on the site that has helped me out .This is a VERY good group of people on this forum and I couldn't have put this car together correctly with out them .
Plus I still need some important info pertaining to the 3 speed cars. So we will more than likely talk soon .
I should mention also that my car was built in the Kansas plant , don't know if some of those markings could change from plant to plant .
One other thing I forgot to mention is I did not paint the transmission case or tail housing , they are bare cast iron coated with a wax paste .

Well i,m working like a mad man on these Gran Sports again . Patched another rust hole on the 2 dr hd top , it was a little tougher than i thought it would be . took me a whole day to form and weld it in there .  Then today i Finished up the 3 speed trans  , installed the tailshaft housing, mounted the shifter and mocked up the back-up light switch .   Everything went together perfect but ill say one thing it aint no Hurst shifter . Its like shifting my grandpa's f12 farmall .  :laughing7:

More excellent work, John!  I agree, the Muncie shifters are pretty sloppy.  I snuck a Hurst in mine...don't tell, OK??  :laughing7:

Yeah, a good majority of ANY stock shifters were anything but good.

Looks good! You are right about those shifters! I might still have my 3 speed Hurst Mastershift shifter from the green car.

Dear John, Chuck, Jim, and mid-60s Buick caregivers,

spent a little time in the shop today with all this rain were getting.  My friends are starting to call me ( Patches )  :dontknow:
Who knows someday it might see the road again .

If your friends really are calling you that, it is most certainly meant as a compliment!   :icon_thumright:

Cheers, Edouard
