Well the weather here has been crazy humid and hot so I turned on the A/C in the shop and started assembling the engine . I took care of all the clearancing issues first  ( filing ring end gaps and getting cam bearings to fit  ) , then got the crankshaft and piston assemblies in . Still waiting on the cylinder heads to get done .
feels good to be making progress again .

Jim ,  this engine will be a true 10.25.1 compression ratio . While these engines were advertised at 10.25.1 they were actually considerably lower .
I spent quite a bit of time going thru measurements with Tom Telesco and my machine shop and we had a set made up to get the compression up to where I wanted it .
How its gonna like pump gas is another story .  :laughing7:

I got some time to clean the outside of the 3 speed trans yesterday and found these markings . I now need to make stencils so I cam put them back on .
Looks like there is 3 different colors , for sure yellow and possibly orange and a blue dab on the bottom .
What they mean I have no idea .

Time for an update I think . Got the tail lights and grill back from chrome shop . Vinyl top trim came back from anodizing . And engine is assembled far enough to get paint on it . Be installing the intake today . Soon as the carbs come back its off to the dyno for break in .

Dear John and mid-60s Buick restorers,

Glad to see that you are making progress!!  :hello2:

Got the tail lights and grill back from chrome shop . Vinyl top trim came back from anodizing .

Both are nice although the photo the trim is a bit hard to make out.  The tail lights turned out great!

And engine is assembled far enough to get paint on it . Be installing the intake today . Soon as the carbs come back its off to the dyno for break in .

Looks great!  I can't get enough of that Nailhead green!!  :icon_thumright:

Cheers, Edouard  :occasion14:

Who did the tail lights and how much was it?  Ogden Chrome quoted me a disturbingly high price

Hi markrieb ,   first of all welcome to the forum . I see this is your first post and yes rechroming these tail lights is very expensive .
Just the bare housings cost me 1600.00 plus I still have to fill some pitting on the areas that get painted black and silver .
Then on top of that the 4 center bars were another 80.00 a piece . So after everything said and done its very easy to have 2000.00 in them and that's considering your cores aren't to badly pitted .

I used Bill Hirsch also...thought the hue looked familiar!  I like it.

Hoping to fire my engine for the first time tomorrow.  Fingers crossed.....
