Tail Light Body Panel
« on: November 10, 2013, 10:21:01 AM »
Does anyone have or know where I might find a good useable tail light body panel? Thought I could save it but it is rusted through where the trunk w/strip goes plus on the lower portion.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
FreddieZee

FZ - What side, as they are different? Just got done installing a good pass side one and have one that has been removed but has holes in the flanges due to drilling the numerous spot welds out. Also have a couple on my donors but would have to re-look at the condition. Takes quiet an effort to remove one for reuse.

Dwaine, Thanks for the reply. I know they are tough to get out and reuse. Actually the left side under the tail lite is terrible and the right side where the trunk w/strip goes is rusted in half. Also pin holes along the entire length behind the tail lights. I was thinking about getting one cut all the way across the rear floor and buying it as one piece. I'll do the spot weld drilling and clean up if I can find a nice one.

Thanks,
Fred Z.

Fred - Will do. I have one Passenger side that has been cut out already and one Drivers side that will need to be cut. For the one I ended up using  I removed with an angle grinder from the outside to avoid having to cut all the spot welds. Took a couple of hours but the piece ended up looking like new once it was out, blasted and primed. Anyway I'll shoot a few pics and send your way.
