Seat Adjustment knob
« on: July 01, 2013, 05:10:33 PM »
The Chrome (somewhat triangular) knobs on both of my front seats are pitted like crazy.   These are the side knobs that are used to allow the front seats to slide back and forth.  I don't know what they are called but I need a new  (better)set.   It might be necessary to replace the entire lever (I haven't checked to see if the knobs come off).   Mine are so much worse than the rest of my metal, they really stand out.  I guess when a convertible with a bad roof sits out in a coastal town for 10 years the metal doesn't like it.

Anybody have a decent set or even a single they want to sell?

thanks  Rob

Rob, the knobs are common to all GM A-body I believe.  Have you checked Year One or one of those suppliers? They do come off, there is a small set screw on the inside. Robert rechromed mine, they were also pitted badly.

Hmm.  Triangular?  That doesn't sound like the correct knob for a '65.  Can you post a picture of the knobs that are on your seats?   64, 65, and 66 all had different seat adjustment knobs.  Jim Moses and I just had this discussion a few weeks ago figuring out the correct ones for his 65.

Hi,

check out this link:

http://65gs.com/board/index.php/topic,1692.msg9638.html#new

That is what the seat adjuster knob for 65 is suppose to look like.

when I searched this is all I could find:

http://www.opgi.com/skylark/1965/interior-accessories/seat-accessories/CCCH114/

your triangle, this is what is on my 64 Buckets and most suppliers call out correct for 65

the originals were diecast so you might be able to get yours refinished thou it won't be cheap

good luck on your search

Regards,
Jim

Mine are only "somewhat" triangular.  I will shoot a photo tonight and posit it.
