Original Delco Spiral Shock Color
« on: March 05, 2013, 03:03:18 PM »
I have had the opportunity to remove the original Delco Spiral Shocks from two '65s.  One was a Fremont built 65 GS and the other was a Flint built 65 Special.  All the shocks from both cars still had some of the original paint between the rust and dirt, and it was black.  Other people have told me that all the 60's Delco spiral shocks were gray and in addtion, all of the reproduction ones available are gray.  Has anyone else come across a 65 Buick with the original shocks and taken note of the color?  From my experiences with the two I have removed the shocks from, I am convinced that they were black from the factory on our 65 Buicks.

Brian,

I hope to be replacing all of the shocks and springs on mine is the next couple if weeks. I don't know whether or not mine are still original but I'll look and see.
