1965 Buick Parts book

Guys, I'm considering purchasing a 65 parts book, but it's an early edition.....Sept 1964. Would this include Skylark GS parts, or would they only be in a later edition?
My 66 parts book was released in Dec 65.
    I asked the seller to look up some GS engine mounts to see if they are listed.

And does anyone have the 64-67 A-body Canadian parts book? I've never been able to get my eyes on one of those. Looks like it may be the most detailed one out there.

Walt, you will need a later parts book. There is a May, 1965 Master Parts Book that will have the parts listings you need. They periodically come up on eBay. Good luck.

I have the 1940-72 Master, but 1965 listing are limited.

There are two books - a Master Body Parts Book and a Master Chassis Parts book.
I have a Body Book that is dated July 1968 Inclusive.
The Chassis Book I have is dated March 1, 1970 Inclusive.
There were parts that went in and out of the book depending on the pub. date.
I think they were done quarterly.

Mark, I'm not looking for anything in particular (at the moment).
The books are nice to have on hand for positive ID of parts found online. I've seen a lot of mis-ID'd parts on eBay.

I think that the Master Parts Book that I have is for 1965 only. I am not home until next week so I can't say for sure. I'll let you know for sure when I get home.

My source has a red cover and is a bit over an inch thick. It is labeled 1965 chassis and body parts book, complete reprint effective may 1965, BUICK. It is meant to be kept in a large loose leaf type binder. It covers all models of Buick for '65.

I ran into John 'Nailhead' at a local swap meet....he also has the early edition.
He said some years had more than one edition released to cover the changes.
My 66 parts book has the red cover too. Release date is Dec 65.
It only lists parts that were used 1966 only, or used for both 65 and 66....no 65 only listings. :P

after reading your posts on the 65 parts books, maybe you can help me with a parts book i have.
It is a master body parts book, models 1940 to 1966 inclusive.
effective July 1, 1966
complete reprint.

its about 2 1/2 inches thick, has body and interior parts only.

is this what you are refering to?

Al, there were a few types of Parts Books.
There are the 'one year only' books, like the '1966 Chassis and Body Parts' book I have. It lists only parts for 1966 models and a few parts that fit both 65-66 models. 66 version is just over one inch thick.
 
Then there are "Master" parts books that cover a range of years. For example, I have a 1974 edition that covers 1940 to 1974. It's composed of three books.... a "Chassis Section", a "Body Section", and a "Illustration Section". (I'm missing the Illustration section) '74 version is 3" thick without the illustration section.

Canadian versions differ slightly in what they cover. In the 'Electronic Garage' section on this site, there is a 1964-72 'Master Parts Catalogue' that covers the Special body style only.
There is also a Canadian  64-66(or 67) version for the Special I'd like to get my hands on!

One year only books give the most accurate data.
Master (1940-1974) books will not include listings for part numbers that have been discontinued. If a specific part has been replaced or superseded by a newer version, it will only show the newest pn. One advantage to the Master is it will show if a part was in several applications covering several years. For example, a 65-66 GS 4 speed throwout bearing was used from 1939-1948, 1953-1963, and 65-66 GS!   ...that makes parts hunting much easier!

The 1940-66 Master book you have would give excellent info for 1965 models. Unfortunately, you are missing the 'Chassis' section.

I can see where going thru looking for parts would be very time consuming.
The illistrations are very good as to putting the diff. assemblies back together again.
