steering wheel
« on: August 10, 2012, 03:11:58 PM »
If anybody sees a good steering wheel, I am in the market.  I need a new (different) black one.    Mine, which was just restored 2 years ago, has six big shrinkage cracks in it.  If anybody sees a nice restorable one,  or one that doesn't need to be restored, I sure would love to hear about it.  I have driven about 2000 miles this summer and apparently my steering wheel doesn't like the  top down as much as i do.

Thanks!

Rob,
do you mind saying who restored the wheel ? if it was a company. Will they not warranty the work ? Some of these vendors charge upwards 1k for a wheel resto..
Thanks,
DL

My current wheel was not professionally done.   It was done by my dad and something tells me he doesn't offer a warranty.  The wheel we started with was quite bad.  It had gaps in two places that were more than a quarter inch wide.  The new cracks are smaller but they are all over the place.

I am a little confused about the post about McIntyre but i will follow up with him.   Half of my problem is that i only drive the car when it is sunny and then, I only drive with the top open.  This steering wheel has been the main casualty.

Thanks for all the information.  I really appreciate it.
