« on: April 03, 2012, 02:21:38 PM »
In need of two sets of hood to fender side bumpers. I have ordered several sets suppose to be correct and they are all too big.
Help would be appreciated.

Hi Mike,

I ordered mine from Cars,Inc.  Here's the link.

http://www.oldbuickparts.com/catalog/group-c-38_55.htm

They measure 5/8" wide and 7/8" tall, or at least the ones that I have and fit are those dimensions.

Dan and Mike,

Yes, part number HFB610-3. Sorry about the bad link.

Guys,

HB64 from Fusick Olds is the only one I could get to work. And I tried them all, believe me.
They are all made too "thick."

Thanks all for the input. I sent an original to Restoration Specialties and will report back on what they send. Apparently there are many different ones for the mid sixties.

Here's the latest info on the hood to fender rubber bumpers. Mark Ascher is in Kansas City this week with his family and stopped by last night for a visit. After a spin around the block in the red convertible we looked at those hood to fender rubber bumpers. The bumpers that I ordered from Cars, Inc. in 1997 that I put on my red convertible, fit great and looked like the originals. Last year I ordered the listed rubber bumpers again from Cars, Inc. to put on my silver convertible, restoration in progress. Last night I dug them out their box and compared them with what was on my red convertible. As you can see from the photo, they are not the same. The Cars, Inc. HFB610-3 bumpers are too thick and do not match what they supplied to me in 1997. Mark, said that what he received from FusickOlds are thinner just like the originals. So I will order HB64 bumpers from FusickOlds. Cars, Inc. does have many fine quality parts, but they must have changed suppliers of this part. I suppose that one could add shims to the fenders where they fit to the radiator core support and to the cowl to accommodate the thicker bumpers, but that not to path that I want to take.

I ordered the HB64 hood to fender bumpers from Fusick Olds the other day and the ones that they sent are nothing like the originals. They are only about and inch wide. Has anyone found a supply for something better?  :sad1:

I saw those but they are only 11/16 wide and the orginals are almost 2 inches wide.

Posting some pics on this would help. I don't know what "width" is being discussed.
After trying just about every supplier/reseller there is, I found ones that as close to original as possible.

Another one to add to the parts reference list.

I just had this happen, the Cars ones are split and too thick.  Not like the ones I got from them before that appeared to be correct.  Steele looks like the right stuff on ebay.
