Where's This 65 Post Coupe Now?
« on: January 11, 2012, 07:59:25 AM »
I sold my 65 post coupe in the 80's and it went to CT.  Used to run into the new owner occasionally, and last I knew he sold the car locally after several years.

It was turquoise mist body, white top, black interior, automatic tranny, VIN ending in 702.  Anyone here own it now or know where it is?

Hi John,

I looked through the Registry that on this website and did not find your old post car. Having the VIN number made that easy to research. Since I am still in possesion of the Registry Archives, I went though all the old photos. I did find one Turquoise Mist, white top and black interior, post car.  This post car was first registered in 1981 by an owner from Maryland, first name John. The car was again registered in 1982 by another owner in Connecticut, first name Joe. Since the archived registry entries do not have an associated VIN, I can not tell if this is your old GS. Did your old GS have the standard spinner hubcaps?

Yes, it had the spinner caps.   That was my old car--I lived in MD and put it in the registry when I had it!

Does this photo look familiar?

Sure does--it was taken in front of my driveway and my neighbor's house is in the background.

John,

I do not have a current address for the owner in CT.  Do you remember to whom you sold your GS? If you do remember, send me a Private Message with his name to be sure it's the same. Last known  address was 5 years ago, from the BCA roster.

This is an awesome example of why the registry is important.  This should be incentive for anyone who hasn't registered their car yet to get on the ball and do so ASAP.   :evil5:

It's amazing that 30 years have gone by and we still have some records of her!  I'm sure this is exactly what Steve Shuman had in mind all those years ago when he started the registry.

By way of update, I just talked to the buyer of my car and he confirmed that he resold it and has not seen it since.  He thinks it went to MA......but it could be anywhere by now!

Anyhow, if anyone on the board owns or runs across a 65GS post coupe that meets the description, please let me know!

John,

Sorry that you could not see your old GS one more time. Perhaps there still might be a way to track it down. Were you hoping to buy it back? I've talked with so many people who wish they'd never sold there first car. Or that they could find it and buy it back. Here's a link to such a story.  Enjoy.

I consider myself fortunate to still have my first car, a '65 GS convertible. It was love at first sight and it still warms the cockles of my heart when I take it for a spin. Here's a photo of me changing the oil in 1971.

I had not been thinking about the possibility of buying it back--it's enough of a long shot that it may have survived and someone in the Buick community has it now.  That said, if it would come up for sale I would want to be 1st in line to ckeck it out!
