Projects
« on: January 30, 2009, 07:50:05 PM »
Chris,
Didn't know where to put this.  Well here goes. In another club I belong to ,Hupmobile Club, many projects that are done, are started only after members have financially committed with a down payment.  Those who are in early get special pricing. Those that wait , end up paying a bit more.

Maybe, this would be a possiable means of getting more projects done.

Just some thoughts,

Loren,

This is actually a much better way of handling things.  The biggest risk I see with this is that those who put down deposits don't like the product and everyone wants a refund and you are left holding the bag.

I suppose to prevent this, you'd need to be very very clear with the vendor about exactly what you want and only pay him upon a part that makes everyone happy.

I did see them do this one year at the GS Nats (I think it might've been a grill for a 70's GS) and it seemed to work out really well.

Man how I'd love to offer 65 quarter sections.. think of all the 65's this would save?

 Chris ,

It has worked in the past for other projects. Now all we need is input from others .

We also need to get more '65 owners on here. How do we do that?

Spread the word!
Lets send invitations to 65 owners on boards like V8 Buick, and Team Buick (Buicks.net). Are there any other Buick boards?

That ran through my thought process center. Wondered if that is an ok thing to do . Or is it taboo?

I have a good relationship to the V8Board and I don't think we are much of a threat to them etc. unless we try to become a "Buick Everything" site.  We are more of a 65 specific site and I'll always send folks there and I hope they'll do the same.

I've seen this same relationship with the GSX registry etc.

As I see 65 folks on other sites, I usually tell them about our site and leave it up to them to join.  This seems to work well.

Another thing that John E. and I talked about years ago is printing up some biz cards with the site info to leave on windshields and / or passout at car shows.  This is good for those who stop by and look at our cars and want to learn more and those who once or still do have 65's.

If you notice Mark and Dan H. signatures on the V8Board, you'll see that they've included www.65GS.com next to their names as their home page.  I think this is really cool and by all means if you want to claim this as your home page, please do.... it belongs to you... the 65 guys!

When I do the BCA ad for the lenses I also want to check on prices for registry / site ad's, this would be true for Hemmings also.

You guys are great!  What other ideas do you have to help this baby grow properly?

Chris,

What do you think of members here, making a financial contribution to the biz card thing and receiving cards to be able to hand out?

Say something like 25 or 50 cards . Contribution would cover cost of cards and postage.

Business cards would be a great idea.
Or if you had a flyer that we could download and print out, that may suffice.

Walt,

Good idea!!

Chris,

I still like the biz card idea. How about combining that with Walts' idea of a download.

Biz  cards are something that you can carry in a wallet. Then they would be with a person most all the time.

I realize that you have alot going with the site. The artwork is allready done. Unless you give someone else permission to use it.

I am not very computer savvy.
