What did it come out of?  It looks like a downflow core support out of an early '65 Special/Skylark.  The GS cars all had a crossflow radiator and require the late '65 crossflow radiator support.

Brian, not sure what it was out of, I got it with some other 65 parts years ago. I thought there was a difference but do not know what. I did some measurements on it and my GS and looks like the lower support is the difference. Other than that the top and sides look the same. Years ago I used a 65 Skylark to repair a GS but think I used the drivers side off the skylark on the GS, for rust below the battery on the drivers side of the GS.

Thanks for the info and I do think this is a Skylark. Do you know if the Skylark with a crossflow used the same bottom piece as the GS or one like I have?

It the only difference is the bottom support and put the GS one on off a rusted or damaged one.

Do you know if a 66 Skylark or GS lower support is the same as a 65?

Thanks Bill.

The regular Skylark with a cross flow uses the same core support as the GS.  There are more differences than just the bottom crossmember. The top crossmember is different in the middle.  If you take off the top plate over the radiator on your GS, you will see the differences.  They are also different on the bottom side of the top crossmember where the hood latch and center grill support attach.  The difference in the grille center support mounting makes them non-interchangeable.  The center grille support is specific to the type of core support--they are easily spotted because the downflow one has large cutouts in it and the crossflow one is solid with no cutouts in the metal.  They mount up completely different and you cannot interchange them.
So the one you have is a good core support for someone with an early '65 Skylark with the downflow radiator.  Not much use for someone with a GS unless they need it to cust the side areas off of to repair a rusty one like you were talking about.  That part is the same.

Bill, I sure could use a rad support for a 1966 if you have any available!
I'd also be interested in a solid partial... just the right side. Thanks.

Walt I do have a 66 out of a Skylark, some rust on the pass side, nice otherwise and good for a GS repair. Thanks Bill.
