The chrome on the taillights is very nice with some pitting in the groove where the black paint is, these are probably the nicest you will find. The lenses look nice and the diecast ribs that run across the lenses are good, but not as good as the taillight housings, so with some pitting mostly on the underside. The emblem that goes between the taillights is really nice with almost no pitting, but the red, white and blue plastic is somewhat faded. Still one of the nicest emblems you will find. I would like to sell the taillights and emblem as a set. My price for all three items is $500, plus shipping.
to make this more fun, I have another set of taillights that I will include in the shipping box for free if a 65GS subscriber buys the taillights. The passenger side has almost no pitting, but has a hole that a pissed off wife, or girlfriend, created when she caught the previous owner cheating on her and beat the shit out of his ride. too bad as his Skylark had the nicest chrome I have seen, she even broke the grille. The driver's side is nice, but has some light impact damage to the outer edge.
I also have a NOS center emblem for a 1965 Special that I will let go for $300. I think I paid $400 for it. My plan was to remove the plastic red, white and blue emblem and put is on the one that is for wall to wall taillights of a Skylark. If interested, just let me know.
I have an MP4 file of the taillights that I can send to you if you are interested. The photos are of the taillights before I disassembled to clean them up a little and to create a set out of the best parts. The videos of the taillights will give you are really good and closeup image of their condition.
Shipping may be a bit much, these things are heavy. If no one here buys the taillights I will rethink my pricing and probably sell them as individual parts instead of as a package deal. Of course, the prices will go higher.
