I put a spectra tank in '64.

The filler neck got "tweaked" in shipment. Off about 4 inches, so I pushed to get the sheet metal straight, then heated it with MAP gas torch and as the solder started flowing, I moved the neck.
(I had both tanks side by side to eyeball it.)

Tank fit like factory, and new straps were easy to install.

The only thing was having to wrap a longer vent hose around as the tube on the tank was on the other side.

Overall happy, so I bought another for my '68.
Michael

The first 60 years were spent on surviving. The second 60 are gonna be spent on fun!

Not sure this is a spectra tank. The tank shop is an off shoot of these guys.

Lotsa info, just zero sales and feedback. Gonna call them tomorrow... Bill

Dear Brian, Bill, Chuck, and mid-60s Buick caregivers,

Got outa the muffler shop today and what a difference! Two inch pipes back to 2-1/2" mufflers with nice little turndowns. Typical old school stuff, and I cant stand the side outlets in front of the tires. I am good with this for now.

Congratulations!

Having a gander underneath on a rack is always a treat for me. Ground clearance, poor lighting, and being nearsighted on a cold concrete floor never did much for me LOL... Shot about 50 pics while "up" there. Never one to get discouraged, I am already planning on next years work; life permitting.

I did the same thing when Biquette got her new exhaust.  Fortunately, she was very good shape relatively speaking.  Never underestimate the importance of keeping a car in the garage!

Is the fit OK on the spectra tanks? The 70-72 models are a pita with filler neck issues. Input? Feedback??

Biquette also has a Spectra Premium tank except her's is for the 1964-67 El Camino and she has the EFI model.  There were no problems fitting that tank either.

I think this is the tank that you are looking for:

The Spectra Premium model number is GM37J.  Am I right on this one folks?

Cheers, Edouard  :occasion14:

P.S. Walt had already answered my question before I did the search!  The perils of replying as you read!
