Edelbrock has a poll under the 'News Headlines' for new Nailhead products:
http://edelbrock.com/Take your pick: Heads, intakes, or other.....
New 2x4 intakes are avail from EELCO (basically an Edelbrock clone), and a 1x4 is reportedly on the way. And do we really want 'EDELBROCK' valve covers on our BUICK?...I vote NO!
Therefore, I recommend we all vote for aluminum heads!
My best guess is that these would most likely be mildly improved aluminum versions of the originals. But I do hope they spend some R&D $$ to produce something that will offer significant hp increases. (insert 'pray' emoticon here).
I'll take a wild guess at the cost....Summit has SBC heads for $1000. The new 409 heads are $2000. Highest price on the Summit site is $2700 for the Victor 429-460 Ford heads. So I'd estimate Nailhead heads would be on the high side at $2000 to $2700.
Now put the cost into perspective.... I spent over $600 to have my stock iron heads resurfaced, have new guides installed and cut for valve seals, a 3 angle valve job done, and new springs.
www.Gesslerheadporting.com will do the same with new valves, retainers, and keepers for $900. Porting could be $1000++ extra.
So if Edelbrock could give us an improved pair of heads for $2500, it may be worthwhile.
