I'm looking for information on the Reynolds Buick 65.
Does anyone know what color it was (all I've seen are black and white pictures).
Does anyone have any articles or color pictures of it?
Does the car still exist today?
The reason I'm asking is that I'm thinking of the option of building a tribute car some day and I'll want my color options to match the Reynolds Buick options.
Since it's a "tribute car" and I'd plan on running it down the track every now and then, unless I can find a nice GS post with an automatic, I'll probably choose a clean Skylark post car like the one I just bought, combine it with my stash of GS and Skylark left over parts and clone it.
This would be a really fun car and it'd be really neat to see something that looked like her go down the track at BPG and Bowling Green.
Any information would be helpful...

Chris, there are a bunch pictures of the Reynolds 65 GS on V8 Buick.
There are a couple here on page 18:
http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=55489&page=18&highlight=len+immke
Sorry to say, that car was wrecked. There's a pic on page 19.
Great idea for the tribute car!
-
Thanks Walt.. I got a ton of pictures and some really good information from that thread.
You are right Walt, it looks like the Reynolds 65 GS was wrecked at somepoint and was probably parted out and scrapped. This is sad and at the same time cool since there is no one out there to get their underwear in a bunch about replicating a car they still own. ;D
It would always be advertised as a "Tribute car" and not the real thing, and I'd strive to keep it as period correct as possible.
I'm still looking for anyone out there that can tell me the original colors of the car (interior / exterior).
I'm posting all my new pictures and information on the Gallery if you want to check it out.

Looking at that picture , looks like the engine is not in it. Notice the front end sits up a bit.
I looked through some old articles I have , unfortunately only black and white photos, no mention of the color combo.
Wonder if there is any one around that was connected with that car?
Loren
-
Chris,
Seems to me I recall something about that car being light aqua. You might want to send Guy Parquette a pm, he might know what color it was.

Ok Guys.. I'm not going to steal Tom's thunder here, but he's been doing some follow-up with the Reynolds family who still own and operate the Reynolds Buick dealership in CA.
Tom asked the son if he'd have an issue with someone building a Reynolds tribute car and the son thought this was an awesome!
Here's my idea guys...
Set a goal to complete a Reynolds tribute car for the 50 year anniversary at Bowling Green & other events (BPG etc). 2015 = 6 Years!
What I propose - I propose that the 65GS.com website and 65 GS Registry sponsor the car. Since neither of these make any money (neither was ever intended for profit) maybe you guys can help me figure out how to pull this off.
Here are some of my thoughts....
If I was to buy the parts and ship them, would some of you be willing to donate your time to rebuild them? Examples would be engine - transmission - rear end - assemblies like shifters etc?
If I was to add a shop on the page and offer T-Shirts, mouse pads, coffee mugs etc do you think folks would purchase anything? I would offer both the 65GS.com logo shirts and even 65's with your preferred color combination.
Any fabrication folks out there? Would need things like replica tow bar for underneath the front of the car etc.
My intent is to involve anyone who wanted to be involved in this but not solicit for donations etc.
What are your thoughts on this? Any other ideas?
Chris
-
That would be cool Chris!
I propose you win the lottery, build a GS restoration facility (complete with test track), and invite us all to live there for no charge as long as we would work on your GS's!
Boy, wouldn't that be a retirement dream!
Back to your idea... I would be willing to help out. Shipping costs might be prohibitive tho.
I do a lot of glass beading, painting and powdercoating, metal repair/welding, and even small parts plating here at home.
-
As Chris noted eairler Don Reynolds gave me permission to build a clone.I'am going to call next week and talk to his dad who was on vacation this week. From what Don remembers,it was his dad that flipped the car on the way home from the drag-strip.Pomona is only 4-5 mile from the dealership and they drove the car back and forth.Starting raining on the way home and with the slicks still on his dad lost control and flipped it.I will post any new information next week after i talk to his dad.Don was a very nice guy to talk with and very down to earth.
-
Just to be clear here.I got permission,Chris is the one who had the idea.
-
I'd be interested in working with the folks here to build an accurate clone. I could donate a bunch of labor at my professional restoration shop. What do you guys think? Does anyone already own the proposed candidate car?
-
I could make a nice spot for it at the new shop.......
-
Wow Mike.. awesome offer!
Right now I'm fishing to see who is interested and gather ideas.
Support has been very good so far.
I personally need to wait a little bit and wait for the economy to look a little better before buying a donor, but this is something that could probably happen within the next 18 months.
I have excellent post doors, skylark fenders (will need converted), hood and trunk lid. I also have a couple GS auto transmissions, console / shifter etc.
What is missing - GS or boxed frame, 401, headers, motor mounts, posi rear, post body shell, wheels - period correct tires, porti-vents, battery cables, interior kit and all the other little bits and pieces. ;D
Labor is a big part and you taking on some of the body work is a big step forward.
Chris
-
keep me posted on this, sounds like a really fun project.
-
It looks like this just may be able to be pulled off!
-
It seems like I remember that car being white top and gold body......artic white/ aztec gold?????????
-
Doc,
So far that seems to be the color combo that a couple guys have come up with.
How cool it'd be to see her come alive again... ;D
I have a perfect California post car sitting here that I intended on using for my GS four speed rebuild however the more I think about it, I could save the four speed shell if I use up my NOS quarters and this would free up the California car up for the Reynolds project....
Hmmm.. decisions... decisions...
Chris
-
Doc,I've been looking for some colored pictures but nobody can find any.If you have anything i sure would help.
-
I have some vintage rod books, but the best one that I had got stolen.....I will ck further.....
-
seriously we could make this a reality. We should see if the dealership might want to sponsor part of the build or be involved in anyway? Imagine the car sitting in their showroom again? How cool would that be. I have a lot of magazine connections, I am sure we could get some good press on the car once completed...I as well as alot of other folks out there have alot of good contacts that could become strategic partners in aiding the build of this car. I'd love to build this car at my shop.
-
Tom spoke with Pete Reynolds tonight and Pete is totally ok with us building the tribute car.
I'm thinking of using my post car as the base.
If I put my four speed car on hold (not an issue) this is what we'd have.
What I have now in my garage:
Body shell - Rust free California post
Perfect doors
Perfect Skylark fenders needing cut and converted to GS
Trunk lid
Hood
Rebuilt GS motor
GS auto transmission
Shifter / console
Bumpers - Need rechromed
Lenses
GS motor mounts
John E. said he'd donate the fender vents
Tom W. said he'd do the road trip with me to get the body up to RI.
Mike M. body labor
Still needed,
I'll have a Skylark coupe frame, has anyone ever boxed one of these (is it worth it)?
Interior Kit
Bucket seats
GS emblem set
Paint / Materials
Posi rear end
Period correct wheels / tires
Weather stripping
GS battery cables
GS battery tray & brackets
Decals
Exterior trim detailing
Fair to say we are half way there? ;D
Chris
-
Chris,
As well as the extra set of '65 GS ventiports, I have an extra set of Gran Sport emblems including the glove box emblem that I will donate. Did the Reynolds GS have to first style small silver grille emblem? Don't forget the halo trim. I know where there is a set in a salvage yard. However, I did promise that I grab them for Mark A. the next time I go out into the sticks. The snakes and wasps should be asleep at this time of year.
John
-
John,GS trim did not include the Halo roof trim.
-
I've have the "Halo trim" on my Skylark post (Sedan) but it's not on my GS post.
This is a good topic.. anyone want to attempt to set the record straight? :D
Soft top
Post
Coupe
Skylark
GS
Special
What are the differences in roof trim and does anyone have pictures to help demostrate?

Tom spoke with Pete Reynolds tonight and Pete is totally ok with us building the tribute car.
Do they have any interest in being involved at all? Do they have any color pics of the car?
-
Mike,
I'll let Tom comment more here about his discussion with Pete, but he told me that he caught him right as he was running out the door.
I wouldn't suspect there would be much interest from them to sponsor (especially with auto sales down so far) although when completed, I would love ship the car out to them to display in their showroom for a period of time at their cost (shipping). It'd be really cool to have Pete sign it and snap some pictures.
Some thoughts were to use the car to celebrate the 50th anniversary in 2015 (Buick shows / GS Nats) then put the car on rotational display at places like the Sloan Museum, Floyd Garrett's garage near Pigeon Forge TN, The Peterson Museum in LA, etc. This would give a large audience the chance to see the car, read the story and start recognizing it more.
The magazine articles would be cool also as you'd suggested Mike and a special section dedicated to the project would be a nice 65GS.com website addition.
As I'm working on the 65GS Shop and I'm already thinking that some "Reynolds Tribute" T-shirts etc. would be a great way to make a donation while getting something nice in return that clearly shows your support. More work to be done here as I need to know the boundaries of using the Reynolds name etc.
My intent is to let anyone who wants to help, do so and I'm going into this knowing that all expenses not covered by donations are mine (helps to have six years to spread it out).
I don't know how others feel about this and I don't ever want anyone feeling pressured to give anything... so if you have an opinion.. please feel free to express it here?
Chris
-
John,GS trim did not include the Halo roof trim.
Yup, I know, I misspoke. Sorry. I was referring to the GS trim that goes under the rear window and sail panels. Thanks for the correction.
John

When i spoke with Pete Reynolds about the car he had very little to offer.I"am sure over the years it became just another car to him.Like his son Don a very nice guy to talk to.He does remember giving all the trophies and any memorabilia to the Kennedy family but has lost contact with them.He took my # and said he would look around to see if he could run across anything and would let me know. I do have some better newes from todays search.I have made contact with a guy at Kennebell and would have been able to talk to Jim Bell himself but he was out sick. The person i talked to knew exactly which car i was talking about from the pictures of it hanging in the hallway. Will keep everyone updated as i get more information. Tom
-
That's cool news. I am very excited about this project!!!!
-
Very cool Tom!
You are Da Man when it comes to sluething... I think I'll nickname you Columbo! 8)
If you remember, please ask if they can detirmine the interior and exterior colors?
We are guessing Sahara Mist with an Artic White top...
Any pictures or information they could send on this car would be awesome!
Thanks buddy... this really is neat stuff!
Chris
-
I am now jonesing for all the info on this car!!
I'm not familiar with it. Except for the picture of it wrecked.
Help Chris?
-
The stuff we have so far is posted in the Gallery.

NHRA. - APPROVED MODIFYING TOUCHES FOR THE GRAN SPORT SKYLARK
The New Buick Sizzler ...
A Howitzer with Windshield Wipers
Letter from Lenny Kennedy
Related parts that can be used in order to achieve maximum performance and economy:
1. Exhaust headers and draft tubes available through Reynolds Buick in West Covina, Calif. for Buick Gran Sport Skylark.
2. Valve springs shims .060 thick, Reynolds Buick or any large auto parts supplier.
3. Cheater-slick tires on 6? wide rims is necessary for maximum traction a
14" tire 28? diameter x 7? wide will give the desired results. Specia1 Goodyear Tires available from Barnes and Delaney Tire Co., Long Beach, Calif.
4. It will be necessary to remove 1 governor spring and drill two 1/4" holes in the two large governor flyweights in order to have the automatic trans?mission shift out of low at 5500 RPM.
5. In order to improve shift speed drill the hi-clutch feed passage in the valve body plate to .125 (it is now approx., .098).
6. Distributor advance should be start 350 RPM and 130 at 1700 RPM (distributor test lab.) speed, and go to 3000 RPM without indicating point float on Strobelight in lab.
7. Carburetor jetting AFB Carter at sea level 8o deg temperature should be .o86? secondary main jets, and .050? to .050 on power step of primary metering rods. (.056? or .058? can be used during warmer weather or higher altitude). The needle seats can be changed to Rochester .125? (needle and seat if 2 gaskets are used. on each seat and the floats re-calibrated to factory recommendation).
The camshaft, gear ratios, altitude, and type of exhaust headers will influence fuel mixtures. If the car speed increases when the air cleaner is installed this indicates the fuel mixture is on the lean side.
8. Super lift shocks are also recommended on rear. Inflate right side to
50 lbs. and left side to 7 lbs. for best traction on rapid performance weight transfer.
In order to level the car, use 2 rubber spacers between coils of each front spring. Reset caster, camber and toe-in.
9. The standard exhaust manifold are very good if they are ported at the head location and matched to the head parts. The heat valve should be removed and shaft holes plugged approx., 4' long x 2 1/8? draft tubes seem to give best top-end performance and exhaust scavenging.
10. A speedo gear adapter is necessary in order to correct speedo readings.
11. A 1368091 cam with 2.5 deg retarded key is good for top-end.
12. A 1963 Wildcat tachometer mounted on the mass jacket is also desireable.
13. The shipping weights are 4427=3395lbs., 4437=3407 lbs., and 4467=3449 lbs.
14. Standard H. P.-325. The Dual Quad carburetion, pistons and camshaft=353 HP total.
NOTE: Above all else when everything is done to perfection, but a little more improvement is necessary, always have a good prayer or two on hand. Horse sense and experience will also help to overcome obstacles.

I can't sleep so I'm going back through the information on the Kennedy Reynolds car and surprise.. a hint has been right in front of us all along!
The newspaper article talks about the "Tan and White" Buick.
Any guesses on what they would've called Tan?
My guess is back to Sahara Mist however Champagne Mist and Shell Beige could be possible contenders also..
-
Cool, Thanks.
-
Freaking unbelievable group of pictures!!!
Damn I wish they would've had color cameras!!!
Who's running on the salt flat?
-
We'll need to get a radio delete dash bezel and sun super tach to mount to the column. (shown in one of the pictures.) Hurst Tires makes a pie crust cheater slick like the ones pictures also.
I can't wait to hear if the dealer comes back with any more info and what KenneBell has to say!
Mike
-
Chris ,
Is the interior picture on previous page of the Renyolds car?
I have a radio delete plate I could duplicate if you are willing to use a non original part.
Loren
-
Loren and Mike,
From what I can tell, yes that is a picture of the Reynolds 65.
If you can replicate a radio delete panel Loren, please do... the whole car is a replica of sorts anyhow so using a reproduction part is of no issue to me. ;D
Can someone do some homework on the Hurst tires... size and cost?
The tach I think is actually a piece mentioned in Pop's notes:
2. A 1963 Wildcat tachometer mounted on the mass jacket is also desireable.
This might be something we want to keep an eye out for and if one comes up for sale and it's the same thing that's in the picture, please let me know and I'll try to buy it. A sun tach like Mike suggested may or may not be as easy to get.
Tom called tonight and it sounds like our car might have originally started out as an all white sedan and then painted Gold (maybe even Aztec Gold like Doc had suggested) as were the other Reynolds cars. This was simply the color they chose and Tom found a picture of the Reynolds 68 the same color. Best yet, he talked to Jim Bell tonight who has basically confirmed this.
More to come...
Chris
-
Well,I really haven't talked to Jim Bell in person.I have been going threw a guy that works for him.The email i received today stated that the pictures Jim Bell has are faded to the point that the black and white ones we have are just as good. We did get the OK from Mr. Bell to do a clone. He was also kind enough to give us another contact that knew the car back in the day.A guy by the name of Dave Beneski. When i called and talked to Dave he did remember the car.Dave is the one who informed me that it was not a factory 65 Buick color. He remembers the car being all white and was painted a gold color.Similar to the color of the Reynolds 68 drag car.If this is the case it sounds like it may be a Pontiac color that was called Tiger Gold Poly. Doc,how much can you remember? From what Chris has told me you remembered the car as being gold.Dave also stated he thinks it had a black interior but all these guys are just a little fuzzy on details as it wasn't a big deal to them back then.I have a couple more calls to make and will keep everyone up to date as i get info. There is a colored picture of the 68 Skylark on the V8 Board under the Reynolds thread.
-
If that is a picture of the Reynolds '65 interior, that would be a saddle interior.
The post had less color options for interior then the hardtop or convertible. Further more , interiors for a post car, other then black , would be two-tone seats.
Interior colors for a '65 GS post:
color trim code
black 198
blue 191
red 197
saddle 199
This information is from " 1965 Buick Color-Trim Book "
The saddle interior trim was used with Saherra Mist , Champagne Mist and Shell Beige exteriors.
Also White, Black, Sea Foam Green, Verde Green, Burgundy Mist and Bamboo Cream exteriors.
Looking through a copy of the May 1965 Hot Rod road test article tonight. Noticed that Hot Rod had the opportunity to run the Reynolds car at a strip. Hot Rod magazine reports the car had 4.30 posi.
Loren
-
Loren,The seats are two-tone.
-
Pontiac did offer a special order color called tiger gold or Hurst gold. I do have the original PPG formula for that color and it's no problem at all.
The Sun Super tachs are not that hard to come by, they pop up on ebay often. I also own www.instrument-specialties.com so dash & gauge restoration is no sweat either.
This is great info Tom, I commend you for doing all this leg work.
Looking forward to hearing more.
Mike
-
This is the tach that is pictured in the car.....
-
proposed tires.......
-
we can work with Legendary on the upholstery. I have many many contacts.
-
note square early grille emblem....
-
we need to locate two of these.....
-
note square early grille emblem....
Check out the 65 sport wagon in the background. :)
-
we need to locate two of these.....
Mike I might be able to get a set of those in the spring. Never mind. Wrong coast.
Unbelievable how quik this is coming together.
That tach is way too cool. I'd like to get one for my GS.
Tom, nice work and thanks for sharing.
Patiently waiting for more info.
-
All,
I have a early square grill emblem, so we can check that off the list also.
Tom was going to check with Reynolds to see if they have some plate frames.
As soon as we can decide on what color the interior was, I'll buy a set of visors and send one to Pete Reynolds with a white paint marker and one to Jim Bell so we have autographed parts for the car in case something was to happen before the car was completed.
I look forward to the day when the car can make the trip to Cali and we get the dash etc signed with some pictures.
I'm talking to Tom and we are thinking that this Spring might be a good time to make the road trip to RI to bring Mike a car. ;D
I need to start figuring out realistically what this project will cost out of pocket to make sure I can afford it and that obviously will help determine when we can get started.
Chris
-
Chris, I was on V8 checking out the old race picture's thread and the pic of the int where you see the tach, is kinda posted together with the Boulevard Buick. Could that tach not be in Reynolds car? And belong to the Boulevard Buick?
Just something I noticed.
-
Joe,
I was guessing that this was an interior picture of the Reynolds Buick as the hood and lower dash colors seem to match the Reynolds car.
The two tone interior would have been correct for a post car and I think the Blvd. car was a convertilbe.
Ok Mike.. I think you win the prize, she sure looks like a Sun Tach to me.
Everyone please keep your eyes open for one of these?
Chris
-
I did also notice that the interior had two-tone seats, which were only used in the post cars.
As I was pointing out, there were only four colors for post "GS" interior. Those colors were black, blue, red and saddle. With that said, the Reynolds car could have only had a saddle interior, from looking at the picture and considering the contrast between the two colors of the seat in the picture.
Going with the Saddle interior, the dash, steering wheel and carpet would have been saddle. The headliner would have been Fawn color.
Loren
-
Chris,
Is the subject post car complete? What is the condition as it sits. Can you email me some pics. I have a very methodical process to restoring cars and i'd like to make a game plan so we can discuss who;s doing what etc. I have no prob donating a fair amount of resto labor to the cause. I'd love to handle the assembly process as well.
Mike
-
I was intouch with Matt at kennebells and getting a visor signed is not going to be a problem.Have a call into Reynolds Buick and haven't heard back from them but i don't forsee any problems there.Still looking to talk to another person for some info. Chris, can you say"ROAD TRIP!" Mikes place looks like about 10 1/2 hrs. and 650 miles from my house and your about 3 hrs further west. I'am ready when you are.
-
lol. the new shop is not completed yet so we'll have to wait till then for drop off. I'd love to see pics of the post car.
-
No rush... I need to figure out how much this is going to cost. Till then we can collect parts and keep doing the research.
I'll post some pictures of my post car this weekend.. she's amazingly solid and is an original Black Plate car.
I have found a correct Sun tach on Ebay and I'm going to make a go for her if the price stays reasonable.

More to come..
Chris

Update.I talked with Don Reynolds again today and he is looking forward to getting the visor signed by his dad for us.Chris,i have the address when your ready. Now,as far as color.I'am getting conflicting comments depending on who i talk to.Don Reynolds had Spence Lyon call me today as he worked for Reynolds for 30 years.Mr.Lyon stated that the car was definitely Champagne Mist.Wasn't real sure about interior color but positive of the exterior color. This got him thinking and he told me that a friend of his that also drove the car is still around and he would give him a call. About a 1/2 hour later my phone rings and it's Mr.Lyon.He said that he talked with"Ed" and he remembers the car having a dark brown dash and door panels.Kinda funny,Ed told him that his wife even ran the car down the track and commented about it being to fast for her liking.I think i would give my right nut to be"back in the day"and involved with this.Just to let you guys know,Spence Lyon was a wealth of information to Guy Parquette when he restored the original 70 Reynolds drag car.I would think with the interior being referred to as dark brown he meant saddle.I know Buick listed two saddle trims #159 and 199.Since we know it had a two tone interior was it a combination of both?Whatever it is we are getting closer to the real colors of the car. Tom
-
From memory, the two tachs that were most prevalent back in the day was S/W and Sun electric... with the Sun being the premium one.... both would have been mounted in a chrome cup and either clamped to the steering column or hard mounted to the dash, just to the rt. of center of the steering wheel....
I did run the 091 cam in my 401 and it really performed well but would run out of steam by 5800.... lowend power was really good.... especially with a 950 cfm holley 3 barrel carb.... and a modified stock single 4 intake.... and red neck ram air....I remember having a conversation with Jim Bell in which he told me that they did have a 4.30 posi gear in the back..... I think it was actually a Pontiac unit....at the time the most popular gears were 4.56 and 4.88 for drag racing. Along this time the Pontiac posi s had steel cones in them instead of the paper clutches that the other cars had and were more desireable, because they were tougher. The car was a 4 speed car as I remember him telling me.... I was running an automatic [switch pitch th400] so we didnt have that in common.... he did advise me about modifying the govenor to shift at the right speed so I could just stomp and steer.....
AS to the car color, I am just remembering seeing it in the rod books.....
The slicks pic a few posts back look right for the period..... M&H ''cheater'' slicks with 2 grooves in them..... or Good years....
Another ''period trick'' was the cool can full of ice on the gas line....
and a hot wire run directly to the coil from the battery by passing the ballast resister.... be care full with this ,, use it for trips down the strip only.... also a toggle switch to the alternator field wire to kill the alternator drag....
and of course lubing the front wheel bearings with vaseline....
and engine ''blue printing'' was just getting started....
aaayesss ,, memories..... ;D ;D
-
Well,,,, champain mist is a kind of gold..... ;D ;D
-
Well guys.. it's looking like Champange Mist, artic white top and two tone saddle interior.
Add a Sun 10k tach and a set of cheaters for the back.
I'm wondering if the car had headers? It may have been too early for them... does anyone know when nailhead headers hit the market?
I'm headed to the shop tomorrow to grab some pictures of the candidate.. ;D
Big items still needed - Saddle interior kit - Bucket seat cores - Boxed frame and Posi rear w/ 4.30 gears..
Chris
-
Chris I might be able to come up with the bucket cores. ;D
-
excellent information!!! This is very cool!!
-
A 10,000 rpm tach would not be period correct..... yes there were headers, mostly Mickey Thompsons and it seems like I remember Thorley making tri- wyes.....headers were expensive back then.... none were coated, some were flame sprayed with alluminum or nickel..... once ina while some body would chrome a set but they would not hold up if you drove the car ......but far and away flame spraying was the most popular.....besides the poor boy method of ''missippi chrome''..... ;D
All tachs were 8,000 rpms back then..... there were no shift lights nor ''memory'' tachs... just a simple shift point pointer,,, some even painted the shift point on their tachs or put a thin line of tape.... almost all had the usual oil pressure and water temp gages.... ;D ;D
-
Doc,
I was going off the ticks in the picture and counted what I thought was 10K but was actually 9k.
Please look at the attached picture and tell me if this is the same tach?
From what I can tell, this is a picture from the interior of the Kennedy car because when you magnify this other picture, you can just make out the same colors and even see the tach mounted up there.
Please let me know what you think, there is one of these Sun tachs on Ebay right now that I've been watching. ;D
Chris
-
Tach is uo to $152.00 so far.
Ouch
-
Well quit bidding on it Joe. ::)
-
Ok Guys...
Here she is.
I've also included pictures of a GS vert. I have for parts and my extra GS motor that is ready to go.
Chris
-
More....
-
and more....
-
and even more...
-
Looks like a good solid car. Kudos Chris.
And it will be a very easy restoration.
I'm an east coast guy, used to mega rust!!
-
wow that looks real clean, this is gonna be easy!!!
-
Well quit bidding on it Joe. ::)
Your killing me dude!!!LOL LOL!!!! ;D
-
Yep, looks the same to me,,,,,, definitly a Sun tach and the right numbers on the face..... pointer and all.....
The reynolds car was most likely a ''light weight'' car that was special ordered with no heater, no sound deadner, no undercoating, ect.... i am not saying that it actually was but if I was back then, ordering a car to drag race with , I would want it to be as light as possible..... remember how the pop hot rod project x was done?????? all that stuff was removed..... it was all about advertised hp to weight ratio.....that determined the class that the car ran in.....Any pics with the class wrote on the windows/windshield with shoe polish????? B/S- C/S-D/S ???Both Pop Kennedy and Jim Bell were old street rats that really knew how to go fast..... all the tricks.....
I dont recall Buick having any other light wt. options like Ford and Chrysler had, and Chevy and Pontiac..... stuff like fiberglass hoods, deck lids, trunk lids, plexi glass, and no window cranks.....Can any body say ''super duty Pontiacs''????
At the time my 64 lark just barely made it into G/S/A class with the ''optional'' 300 ...... won lots of trophys with it....
