Title: Everyone out West ok?
Post by: Chris on January 13, 2009, 03:12:55 PM
Just catching up on the news and it looks like some parts of the west got hit pretty badly with the snow storm.

Everyone ok?

Anyone want to share any pictures of what it looks like out your door?    ;D

Chris,

How about Midwest? We got about 6" of new snow yesterday. The wind was howling last night as I was shoveling/blowing the driveway. Woke up to -16F on the thermometer this morning. It looks like we'll be mostly below zero all week. They say more snow is coming tonite.

I'll get some pics tomorrow.

Wow, I don't know how you can take that kind of weather!
Rarely get below zero here in eastern Pa.
Even my car complains when it's that cold....power steering whines, the shifter moves with effort, and even the brakes feel funny.

Hang in there, warmer days are ahead.

Sorry about that Mark, you're right.. I actually meant midwest  8)

I heard that in some places it actually got to -31!  Now that is COLD!

In Ohio we picked up some snow (about 4" - 6") but we never got the wind that brought the bitter cold like you got hit by.

I'm with you Walt, I don't mind the cold.. but anything near zero is just crazy!!   :o

More snow today.

Here are some pictures of what we are seeing here.

I put a picture of "my girls" sleeping for the winter in there also.  This is five of the six 65's I have now.

On a lighter note, out here in Hollister, Calif.  Today clear blue, high 74 degrees.  You guys out East take care.

-20F this morning. Good old fashioned Midwest cold snap! At least the wind has died down. Yesterday had a mean wind-chill.

Mark,

I wish that was my building...  ;D

I may have plans in the near future to build something similar.

For years I rented storage units and finally it dawned on me to expand.

The building is rented by a truck driver buddy who uses 2/3 for his business.  I rent out the other 1/3 for $250 a month (no utilities).  It's roughly 2500 sq. ft. but has no heat.  It's nice to be able to store all my parts and cars in one place and still have enough room for a work area.

I really like it because if I was to move, I can keep the place in Lima and don't have the worry and hassle of moving all my stuff.  I want to buy some land and build a building with the same concept in mind, but this might take a while as things settle down with the economy.

Loren, I think we found your wind in Ohio..

I'm in Cincinnati tonight and they claim it's -5 here..   brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Dan Habel called me tonight.. Vegas was mid 70's today, he was bragging that he wore shorts.

Sjfd04, how about sending some of that California weather our way?    8)

Only the low 70's... man you better put on two jackets!   :laughing7:

I think you've made some people up North really jealous tonight (count me as one of them).

I've ofter thought about how cool it'd be to drive my convertible all year.

I'm off tomorrow to sit my sorry butt in the frozen Bengals stadium to cheer them on.  I'm not dedicated.. just lucky enough to have a buddy with extra tickets to this playoff game.   :tongue3:

Why couldn't it have been an away game.... IN ARIZONA!   :dontknow:

Oh yeah... well did I mention that I shoveled snow and nearly lost my big toe to frostbite... who's having fun now?   :dontknow:

Ok.. I suppose you are.. I give.    :sad1:

In all seriousness San Diego has the most amazing weather in the world and oh how I wish I could afford to live there!  I imagine that the worse worse winter weather in California is better than the best winter weather in Ohio.    :glasses9:

I'm getting the bug to start working on my car and take her for a blast down the road.... only a couple more months to go.

I'm tired of snow! This is the third time in 2 1/2 weeks that we've been snowed in. Takes a day to get the 1/4 mile drive cleared, sometimes 2 days.
Got it cleared thurs nite , only to have it drift in overnite and got the AWD stuck fri morning.  :angry1:
Well, off to work tomorrow.
