Title: Codes
Post by: jones65 on November 28, 2010, 07:14:59 AM
I am trying to figure out the codes on my 65GS vin tag can anyone out there help me out?

65-44467
ACCS 49 19867
Body BF 629
TR 157
There is also a 3B stamped that seems out of place stamped close to the Flint Michigan

In addition I have not seen a lot of GS convertibles around I am trying to get a general determination of the rarity of this car with its options.

Thanks for all the help

If the '3B' is in the upper left corner, that would be the date code.....second week of March, 1965.
65-44467 is for Skylark V8 convertible.
TR 157 is the interior color... red vinyl bucket seats.
Body 'BF 629' means it was built in Fremont, California. It was the 629th Skylark V8 Vert built there.
Fremont didn't list the options on the tag. They put a reference number there, in your case #19867, that matches a number in a (long-lost) book that tells how the car was built.

There might be a body-build sheet tucked under the rear seat between the springs and the cover. They've been found in other locations as well.

Of the 2147 GS convertibles built that year, only 205 were built in Fremont.
