hey everyone ..... I'm wanting to replace my motor mounts on a 300 and the replacements that I have found are for
65 and up ... opg ... do any of you other 64 owners have any info ... I've searched and found the 64 is different as the
frame pad is taller and the mount is 1/2"' shorter and the flange spacing is about 1/2" narrower than the replacement ones
that I got. Has anyone changed out the frame pads or know where to get a set that will match up to the newer style
mounts. I've called all the usual places but they can't tell you the dimesions as they don't have them right there and I
can have them re-vulcanized but I would like to just replace them and keep the originals. thanks..

The solution is to get a new set of '65 mounts and change the metal towers on the frame over to the '65 towers. I happen to know that Mark Ascher has a set he saved off a '65 Skylark he just parted out. I will send him an Email.
Only other solution is to send your old '64 mounts off and have them rebuilt by one of the mount rebuilding services.

Alex,
Found these listings on EBay for '64 motor mounts. Does this help?

those ones on ebay are the ones that I have right now ....... it's the difference in the mount itself and I would like to keep it
as original as I can ..... I have a call into a guy up here that says he's got a set of nos based on the part # I got from the local
gm parts guy ..... I tried but he wouldn't part with his original manual.........so now just waiting to see what comes
in the mail...... a little late now but I'll post a picture of the two mounts together ... thanks ...........

I have a '64 and put the '65-67 mounts and towers in it years ago. The reason they changed the mounts is because the '64 mounts don't have enough rubber area to them and they break. The '65 mounts are alot stronger and I highly recommend switching to them. Haven't ever had and of the '65 style break, but the '64 ones sure did break! My car is a 4-speed and when it broke, the engine torqued way over and the gear shift moved over about 3" when I got on the throttle!
