Title: Production numbers for Baltimore built convertibles?
Post by: WkillGS on October 06, 2010, 08:38:13 AM
Anyone know how many 44467  'verts were built in Baltimore?
My late August GS is #3072, wondering how close to the end it is.
Thanks!

Is that the last four digits of the VIN?  Or, the four digit number after BAL on the cowl tag?  That number is 2401 on my vert, built in late May, delivered in early June, sold June 12.

Keith, that's the number on the cowl tag.
I've been told it deciphers as the number made of that body style at plant....  body style 44467 would be V8 Skylark verts, with or without GS option.
It's a very late build, 8C= third week of August, 1965.

549 is the figures that I have for gs converts built at Balt. plant! Which is more than Freemont (205) and KC (212) combind! and (1181) at Flint! Hope this helps Jon

Jon,

You never cease to amaze me with your knowladge and information that you have. Where did you get those production numbers. Do you also have the numbers for hardtops and the post GSs. Can you post them here? Thanks.

Thanks Jon!
Do you have the production numbers for all V8 Skylark convertibles built at Baltimore?
....that's the number I'm looking for.

Jon most likely does, he showed me some factory production numbers many years ago.
Jon has collected a lot of Buick info and data.

Info that I have comes from 1965 special series accumulative material usage dated Sept 2,1965 ( 1965 Final Options)  The info is by  order codes( example B7 consolette 2331 cars had this options) and (upc w-15 for gs) some things are by  model # and some are by series . Some options are not listed, I wonder if more list are out there. Two answer Walts question! it does not show  the number of converts by plant just GS! For John's request by plant and model# (gs totals) Flint 4427 -1052 4437-4881 4467-1181  Fremont 4427-442
4437-2560 4467-205 Balt. 4427-471 4437-2103 4467-549 K.C. 4427-217 4437-1807 4467-212 = 15,780

other items of interest  only 5816 in skylark series (includes GS) had the code V2  chrome plated wheels options!

only 1897 in skylark series ( includes GS) had the code U8 tachometer and 1 skylark v-6 car also! hope this is useful Jon

Jon,

What great information for '65 GS fanatics like me! Thanks for sharing.

I found this document regarding VIN assigned to the various assembly plants. I assume that it includes all Buick models and not just the Skylarks.

Thanks guys!
John, the vin assignments gets me closer to determining how close to the end my 'vert was built....
It looks like there were only 294 cars (all models) built after my car!

Very nice, I'm going to use this to  look at the Wildcats.  The 65 cv 4-speed looks like a low #.
