Just wanted everyone to know that Rob Keena took a first at the Land-O-Lakes Musclecar Classic.
He was interviewed by Musclecar Review, and they took photos of his car which may be in a future issue.
Congratulations Rob!
Rob, if you have any photos, post them!

Congratulations Rob! You have one very very nice GS 4-speed convertible. You saved a rare musclecar from the crusher. The quality of the restoration is top drawer. It was a pleasure to meet you and Jay at the Nationals. We had a blast getting together with the whole gang. BTW, Jay's black GS is gorgeous in triple black. The two 4-speeds parked together was . . . outstanding! Having all eight '65 GSs parked together was a rare sight indeed. I'll post photos later after resizing them.

Thanks for the kind words. There were not many cars in the class although I don't know exactly how many as I never even saw the car that took the second place award. Things were a bit scattered. The car parked next to me was a very nice Stage 1 which I simply assumed was going to come out ahead of me. It did not even place in the top three. Most important to us all is that these people were absolutely bonkers for my car because it was a 65. They were really excited about a nailhead car and people gathered around it to disuse "early muscle". I was so sure that I would lose that I left before the awards but my father in law was there and said that they went "on and on" about my car over the loud speaker at the awards ceremony and discussed how cool 65"s are in general. I think that is good news for us all. By the way Loren: "couldn't agree less"? My feelings are hurt. :tongue3:

What I meant, was that I could not add anymore to what had already been said. Please accept my apologies.
You have a beautiful car and are off to an amazing start with showing it.

Congratulations Rob! :occasion14:
Soooo.... it took you a whole 14 months to do the restoration?? That's an amazing accomplishment.
Well done!

I think Rob should get an award for finishing his car in 14 months and then taking first place 3 days after he got it completed.

Turns out they did print a picture of my car in this month's "Muscle Car Review" magazine. Looks pretty good and I think it is good for our cause in general. The reporter ask me the name of my color and I told him "flame red". In the blurb in the magazine he called it "plain red" which is pretty funny considering how glossy the car looks in his photo.
My car is all buttoned up and put away now. Very sad. I put about 1400 miles on it between August 1 and the end of October. Back on the road in juts about 6 short Minnesota months.
