Dear mid-60s caregivers who plan ahead,
I am getting needled to create some bypass trusts so that my worldly possessions end up not being accosted by the "mean old tax man." That leaves a problem that I think all too many owners of classic and exotic cars face: how to find good homes for these car(s). My closest relative is in Boston and the rest of the family is in France. Those folks simply cannot cope with inheriting Biquette. This is hardly a unique case though. Even if you have children or other nearby relatives, unless they have a genuine interest in taking care of the sort of car(s) you own - the cars will either be quickly sold, or at the very least, not well cared for. While there are "happy ending" stories where a car is found by a caring owner (in our case often though the Buick Club of America,) they are the exception than the rule.
I have looked around in search of some sort of a "matchmaker" service that attempts to pair orphaned cars with people seriously interested in caring for them; however, I haven't found anything. Has anyone on 65GS.com found such an institution of some sort? If it isn't a state secret, could you clue me in such a thing?
A curious mind would like to know!
