Making arrangements to be there! Do most people get there a day ahead or just roll in early Thursday am? Any tips for a neewbie?
-
We usually get there midday Thursday. There should be a great representation of 65 Gran Sports there!
-
Take plenty of pics so those of us still building can live vicariously.
Our goal is to make that event someday someday....

You should come and inspect them yourself and maybe even source some parts!

Logo for the 60th Anniversary of the 1965 Gran Sport at the GS Nationals. We should be able to get a nice group picture too. Get those cars out, we have too many reminders lately of how short life is.

Great poster, love to get one. You are so correct, we really need to get a group photo.

I saw that picture. It sure would make a great front license plate for a '65 Gran Sport.
We certainly have had too many reminders of how short life here is. Enjoy every day as the gift it is.

For those of us that plan to have our cars judged at the show on Friday, I've reached out to Alan Oldfield asking about judging criteria. Here are my questions and his responses:
Thank you for planning to bring your car, along with your friends to the GS Nats! Let me respond to your questions:
1. Points judged restoration class: Is judging criteria similar to BCA/AACA 400-point systems? I have a BCA Senior Gold and AACA Senior Grand National/National Award car and would like to understand if I need to be prepared for a different points system and criteria?
Judging in the Concours class is nearly identical to the BCA/AACA 400 point system. If you are familiar with BCA 400 point system, it's the same at the GS Nats. If you want to ask more specific questions, you can reach out to Sid Meyer who is the chief judge in the Concours class.
2. Survivor/Survivor Legend classes: Does a car that had an engine repaint in 1977 and has never been repainted except for touch-ups qualify for either of these classes?
Yes, it would qualify for Survivor Legend. We recently made a change in Survivor class to better accommodate Buicks that have had either an engine repaint, or a repaint of the exterior. These are now classifed as "Survivor Legend" cars and are still judged on the same 400 point system. A Buick in this class may have either an engine repaint, OR an exterior repaint and will not be penalized. The rest of the car will be judged for its originality, with points deducted for items that are restored or replaced. We do not deduct for normal wear items such as tires, batteries, belts and hoses as long as they are replaced with the correct type for the year/make/model.
3. Modified/restomod class: Is there such a class? Will a 65 GS with non-Buick engine, non-original transmission and some technology upgrades fit in a class and be eligible for judging?
I’ve checked with Sid and can tell you in the past non Buick powered cars have not had a class in the show; that has been Richard Lasseter’s call, not mine or Sid. The car and owner are certainly welcome to display and enjoy the cars and camaraderie but there isn’t a judged class.
You or the car owner could email or call Richard to discuss. He’s always been open to input from members and participants.
The lack of a restomod class like the new one acknowledged by the BCA is disappointing, but it is what it is.
Now hoping for good weather and looking forward to seeing many of you at the meet!
:cheers2:
