Are you getting out of the '65 business, or just scaling back to something more managable?
-
Hi Brian,
I was waiting for someone to ask this. :)
I'm really scaling back and trying to get down to two cars:
1. My white 65 GS vert.
2. I just bought this to play with
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320505070054&viewitem=&_trkparms=clkid%3D8687349677395228330
Different, newer and I think just damn right cool! :icon_thumright:
I was leasing a 2500 foot shop that I hardly ever get to use (so busy these days) and I have way more cars that I'd ever possibly get to.
I'm looking on the positive side of things and I've saved a lot of 65's that would've been destined to end up in a junk yard somewhere.
So in case everyone is wondering.. I'm still a 65 guy and you all will need to put up with me. :angel4:

Chris:
Is your other 4-speed for sale?
-
Hey Chris,
What about that 65 4spd you out bid me on last year is that one up for sale?
Would you happen to have a 3922 carb for sale???????????
Cheers,
Gary
-
Hi Gary,
The 4 speed car on Ebay right now I bought about 3 years ago out of Chicago.
The car you are talking about will be going up for sale once I've had a chance to bolt on some of my extra parts laying around the shop (hood, trunk lid, doors, passenger side fender and bumpers).
Jan from Denmark is the first to have dibs on it as he's been after this car since day one. :) After Jan comes Dan from Vegas as he was the next in line. After that?????
This car will need a section of the passenger side quarter repaired or replaced and the engine will need to be rebuilt. Missing parts include front buckets, carb.
I need to get this car together and snap some pictures and hopefully if some of these other cars sell, I'll have room to get in there and work on it.
I'm thinking that $6500 for this car is a fair price even with it's issues simply because it is a nearly complete numbers matching four speed car and the 45,000 original mile body is so damn solid.
As for the extra carbs, I'm actually short a couple myself and don't have any spares... sorry. :sad1:

I can't believe that the 4 speed GS got listed at a $3500 reserve! Wish I had money to bid on that one right now.
That would be the perfect car for my garage!
Wish I could afford to pick up your GS parts car. I could use the rear end and probably a lot more from it. Shipping would kill me!
I know that when my car gets home in mid April I'm going to figure out something that you have that I could use, back up lights or what ever.
-
Yeah David.. I screwed up and I'll now gamble a little on it making the original $5500 reserve that I had in mind.
I thought about relisting it however it really does have to go and I figured that I'd let the market detirmine the price. I have over 60 guys watching it on day two and many guys already have bid on it so I figured I'd do the right thing and take the risk of letting it ride.
It really is a good car that if combined with that California Post car and redone frame would make someone a really easy and affordable project with many extra parts let to sell off (this was my intention when I bought them).
Best of luck to any of you on the site who are bidding...

Stop it Chris!!! you're scaring me!!!! :nono:
I still can't figure out if you are serious... :icon_scratch:...selling your GS's to buy the Fiero thingy. :tongue3:....if you truly are , it may be time for an intervention! :icon_biggrin:

Walt
An intervention would be due if I was buying a 66... LOL! :tongue3:
Just kidding buddy..
Call it a mid life crisis and I'm sure I'm going to regret this some day when my fiber glass Fiero is worthless and these ole Buicks are reaching six figures.
I'm keep a few for myself and I'm sure there will be more in my future but I need to take a break from the madness for a while and re-examine things. I've been thinking of building a shop of my own in the country someday and once I've decided to do that, I don't think it'll take any time at all to fill it up again.
I'm still a Buick guy at heart and I'm not going anywhere guys.. I'm just trying to manage my time and money a little better as there seems to be less of both these days. :laughing7:

I hear you Chris.....
I already have the 'house in the country' with a pole barn packed full of cars.
And boy, that 'country' sure takes a lot of time to maintain.
I presently have some money (due to a job)
Don't have much spare time (due to the job!!) ...Guess 'THE JOB' is a mixed blessing!
I'll get to the cars when I get to them.....whether it's this year or 10 years from now!!
Have fun with the Fiero thingy.... There's a local guy, Darrell Kirban, that specializes in those. His dad, Dennis Kirban, was a big GTO guy in the 60s'-80's , now into Turbo Regals. I wonder if Darrell (Kirban Customs Inc) made that body. He might be a good connection for you. His dads site is here:
http://www.kirbanperformance.com/
Have fun with it! (BTW, is it getting a Nailhead???)
-
Walt,
Yes my friend, you are living the man's dream and many here envy you.
You are a guy with his priorities straight and no woman bossing him around. :notworthy:
Married with children here (the couple I know about anyhow) and living in a subdivsion with tight community rules. :tard: :whip2:
The company that built my body is out of Georgia (Car Kit Inc.) but I'm checking out the link you sent me. I have a buddy that lives about 30 minutes from me building a BMW V12 powered Lamborghini Diablo car and he has some wicked carbon fiber and painting skills. I'm sure that there are many late nights in the garage and a many cases of beer in our future. :occasion14:
As for engines for this new car, the two options I'm thinking of are a Buick turbo six or one of the LS1 Chevy 350 transplants that you can buy in a kit and seem pretty straight forward to install.

More parts added...
http://motors.shop.ebay.com/65gs_com/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=
2 four speed shifters for the 65 GS
2 sets of new door panels (white and black sets)
1 tach cup
A set of original four speed peddles.
Let your money bring you happiness! :Brow:
Chris
-
Hope you get the money out of your cars. That's a lot of 65's on ebay at the same time.
I can't believe the 4 speed GS isn't higher right now. Wish I could bid on it. That is an exceptional buy right now.
-
Isn't that shifter with the mechanism you have on Ebay for a '66? It has the bracket to mount it to the crossmember, where as a '65 mounts to the side of the transmission tail housing.
-
Brian,
Thanks for pointing this out.
If anyone would know, you would. :notworthy:
I think you've probably forgot more about Buicks than many of us on this site would ever learn.
Thanks again and I'll update my auction so that others know.
Chris

Brian,
If anyone would know, you would. :notworthy:
Chris
I knew that....but Brian saw it first!
Could be a 67 GS shifter too. Those are for the Muncie. Brian, are those different than the 66? Dan says the bushing holes are a different size.
So who bought the eBay 4 speed car???? anyone here? :occasion14:
-
It's headed to New Hampshire to a fellow who once owned one in 65 before going into the service.
I'm really happy to see this guy get this car and we should be seeing him joining on the site soon.
Thanks,
Chris
-
The linkage is definitely different for a muncie trans, so the bushings could be a different size--I haven't actually had my hands on a '66 or '67 GS 4-speed cars--just seen them at shows and seen the information about the shifter in the '66 service manual. I know the handle is the same for '65-'67. I am sure you could easily make some custom bushings to work with the correct '66 linkage if you were to get that shifter from Chris and it turned out to be for a '67.
-
Chris...I saw your post for 4 speed pedals and tach cup....My buddy wants both. We just installed my LENSES on his car too ...I need another set of front sig turnal lenses now. TALK TO ME about a total: 4 speed pedals, tach cup and set of lenses! Wheelz, Tampa Bay
-
Chris
Any word on the 4 speed frame we talked about?
Al
-
Chris has been quiet lately....hey Chris, did you get that Fiero-ghini yet???
Post some pics when you get it!!
-
Hi Guys,
I'm still here and I try to check in from time to time.
Sorry I'm not around as much as I was before but a couple things in life have me a little distracted right now and this has absorbed most of my free time.
Everything I had on Ebay a couple of weeks ago sold and has been shipped with the exception of the NOS set of back-up housings, lenses and gaskets. I had a $350 reserve on these and really need to stand my ground on that price given that I have a little more than that wrapped up in them.
Al - The fellow came through on the frame and picked her up on Sat. I was going to call you this week and let you know.
Wheelz - The tach cup and four speed pedals also sold and are with their new owners. I'll PM you with a price on a lens and gasket set.
The Fiero-ghini is home (I like that Walt :laughing7: ) and she's a site to behold. I've been focused on getting the doors and decklid installed but I'm limited to collecting parts and planning right now. When I have the time to work on it, I want to make sure that everything is there and ready to go.
In keeping with my Buick roots, I've been thinking of a 3800 SC transplant however I've not decided on anything solid.
I'll be sure to upload some pictures as I get them. :glasses9:

Hi Bob,
All of these parts are gone and everything sold last year.
Anyone have a posi unit out there for sale and can help Bob out?
