Title: nailhead rocker arms
Post by: 35chevcoupe on May 02, 2024, 10:11:29 PM
Hey all , wondering what everyone is doing for nailhead rocker arms . I was able to get new rocker arm shafts and i had some NOS rocker arms but not enough to finish both heads . The GM part number i,m looking for is 1187800 , thats the number on the box anyway and the last 3 digits on the rocker arm its self is 317 .
i,m using the BUICK cast aluminum valve covers so the roller rockers won't work .

They are reproduced, I don't know what the quality is like.
Another option is to have them rebuilt with bushings and new tips.
There's a company in Calif which does the rebuilds:

You can try contacting TA Performance or Centerville Auto to see what they have available.

The new rockers are not quality.
When you re-bush the rockers it takes material away from the most important area & makes them substanually weaker.
May be OK for weaker than normal valve springs BUT definitely not for ANY upgrades.
Just my thoughts.
