Dear Dball and mid-60s Buick caregivers,
Do you have to remove the side window to remove the vent window assembly to replace rubber weather seal? on a 65 skylark.
One of these days I'll have to take on this task as well. I could have sworn someone had posted instructions on how to do this (or a link to such instructions) somewhere on the forum. However, I did my best to find them and I can't. Does anyone else recall where these instructions are hidden?
Edouard

Hi Edouard & Dball. I was the one having all the problems last spring with the door glass, but thanks to all the help I received from our members on this site that have "been there done that" and helped me thru it so I didn't damage anything. One of our members told me to go to www.1aauto.com/how-to-replace-side-window-post-coupe.64-67-pontiac (http://www.1aauto.com/how-to-replace-side-window-post-coupe.64-67-pontiac) The video helped me get everything back in. As far as taking out the vent window without removing the door glass, You should be able to do it if you loosen the track & window stop and drop the window all the way down. But watch the video it will give you the answer.
Tony

I had a problem with one brand of vent window seals I bought for my 66 hardtop, they were almost 1/8" too short where they met up with the vertical bar by the lock. Left an unacceptable gap! I don't recall the brand (Texas-something?), but bought them from Ausleys Chevelle. The return wasn't a problem tho, just lots of wasted time and effort.
The second set was made by Metro, they fit much better. Thinking I bought them from Ames Pontiac when I was at Carlisle.
Note these are for 66-7. The 64-5 seals may or may not have fitment issues.

thanks but did you have to remove the side glass assembly in the process.

In my case, I started with a disassembled door.
