Hi, I can get a chevelle 10 bolt posi rearend for my 65 skylark what are the difference 's from the buick ?.Jim

Lots of internal differences. It will bolt into the car tho. I think they use different u-joints, there are adapter u-joints avail.
The Chev uses c-clips to retain the axles, the Buick uses retainer plates at the brake backing plates. You won't be able to swap gears, center sections, and axles between Buick and Chev (at least not without mods).
This is a good resource. Jim posts on the V8 site regularly.

Hi,
Also depending upon year the Chevrolet axle came from could be a inch wider believe 67 up could be wrong also 67 up had different spring mounts compared to 64-66.

Hi ,didn't remember when they got wider66 or 67 this is supposedly a 66 so it should drop in with a universal joint change .just a 300 mile trip to get it. I don't know the gear ratio either I'll have to think some more. Jim

I know the Chevelle 12 bolt was still the narrow version, unsure about the 10 bolt.
Buick went to the wider 10 bolt in '66.

I know when I got my 65 GS hd top it had a 66 chevelle 12 post in it and it fit perfect . I would think a 10 bolt 66 chevelle would be the same .
