Dear mid-60s Buick parts hounds,
I assume anyone who does the eBay "window shopping" thing has spotted this already, but it will be interesting to see how the auction for this NOS 1965 Skylark grill pans out:

I see the biggest problem with this is shipping!!!!
Can you imagine someone paying big bucks for it then it gets destroyed in shipping!!!

I have never seen a NOS grill ! I had a grill re-chromed back 20 years ago and the cost was $1,000 I'm sure the price has at least tripled since then. It will be interesting to see how much it goes for. And like you said, getting it shipped home is a big gamble. Having it crated and shipped by truck would be the second best way. The best way would be is to go and pick it up if you live in the northeast.
The location is only about one and a half hours from me, but I don't need a grill

That sure is purdy. Over the years, I've seen a couple of NOS grilles but that was a long time ago.

The Verde Howitzer has a NOS grille. And it's not perfect, has a few scratches here and there probably from living on a shelf too long. I'm not sure any of them were perfect. It cost much less than Tony's rechromed grille and maybe I was just fortunate. It will be really interesting to see what this eBay item sells for.....
:cheers2:

Overall thoughts on the NOS grill anyone ?
almost hard to tell from his photos but it looks there could be a few flaws in the chrome . It would not be worth it if it had to be sent out and replated .
Not to mention the fact of getting it shipped WITHOUT getting damaged .
If it was perfect its still a good deal as it cost me 1500.00 to get my last one rechromed .

Hi,bought a bunch of nos chrome over the years normal shelf wear even in the original wrapping can be pretty bad.jim

NOS by no means is perfect! Some of the current nos items that are left are seconds sometimes items that were returned or tossed in the dealers parts rooms! Very hard to justify spending big bucks on nos only to spend more on having the piece replated restored!? But some parts not much choice! You have to justify and have the pockets for some parts!

I just received a notice that the Grille bid is up to $961.00 Not my money...

Sold for $1,337.

I didn't get it .
I would have to actually see it in person or have someone i knew look at it before spending that much .

It did look pretty nice. I guess I got a good deal on my rechromed 66 grille a few years ago at $300.

Dear Jon, Loren, Tony, Chuck, John, Jim, Dan, Jim, and mid-60s Buick parts hounds,
Sold for $1,337.
I assume most folks on this board also spotted the 1964 NOS grill that is now on eBay:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/204520706448 (https://www.ebay.com/itm/204520706448)
However, the seller is asking $2,450.00 for it. That is probably being greedy to say the least.

Plus you would be buying a skylark grill?I believe a GS grill is likely a different part number. To detail the grill as a GS came is another job on top of the price.
