Title: On eBay: GM aftermarket backup lights conversion kit for 64-65 Buick A-bodies?

Dear mid-60s Buick parts hounds,

There is another unusual NOS item for our beloved Buicks on eBay: a 1964 1965 Buick Skylark GS Gransport Accessory Backup Light Lamp Package Kit:

One clue is that this kit was from GM's Canadian operations.  Can somebody elucidate exactly why these kits existed?

A curious mind would like to know!

Reverse lights were an option. My Skylark does not have them. However the pigtails are behind the bumper for these.
Did you notice one of the lens screws is missing.
