I'm just wondering what the reserve is. Sure is pretty though.

Knowing the seller, I'm sure it's high. He lists most of his stuff at a fixed price.... never cheap!
I purchased a few items from him. Only had a problem once, when a supposedly NOS wheel spinner arrived with a broken-off screw in the mounting hole and a cracked plastic lens. He gave he a full refund and let me keep it. Others have not been so lucky.

I'd guess the reserve is $300-400 :dontknow: Too rich for my paychecks!
This is the first NOS one I've ever seen.

Walt,

I didn't look at who the seller was. First NOS I've ever seen too.

I have never seen another NOS taillight emblem either on Ebay or at Buick only swap meets. A rare find for sure. Sure is pretty! I've only seen a handful of NOS hood emblems in the last 15 years. Grab it if you got the cash. I know this seller, also.  He's an honest and knowledgeable '65 GS enthusiast. The parts he sells are top dollar rare NOS pieces.

I do not see a base or spacer or the correct nut in the pic's, sometimes the bases do not fit tight when changed from one to another, and sometimes you have to file fit them!I have had to do this in the past! But very nice color but is it worth the big bucks?!

Good eye gssizzler! Yes, it should also include the base and the speed nuts. Regardless, it still will go for some serious cash.

I have to retract my earlier statement that I knew this seller. I had him confused with someone else that I've done EBay transactions with. Although this guy sure has a lot of nice NOS parts.

One thing that some buyers of NOS parts don't always understand. A NOS part that is 45 years old will not always be perfect. Shelf wear and pits in 45 year old potmetal are still possible. As always, buyer beware and do your research before bidding.

Guys,

What is the "base" or "spacer"? My car had no such part that I recall.
I had to use spacers between the body and emblem to get it to fit right.
Part of the issue is that the tailights don't all fit the same either.

Mark,

I believe he was referring to the hood ornament not the taillight emblem. Here is an old used hood ornament with the base, spacer and speed nut. The NOS one that I bought years ago came complete as a kit.

I missed the winning bid on the hood ornament by $2.50..... :crybaby2:

Well Gngeorge, sorry you didn't get the ornament. But you could look at it this way; I think a 65 looks better without the hood ornament, or if you would have bid $2.50 more the winner might have bid higher, you will never know.

I have gotten to the point that I bid as much as I can afford for a part at the beginning, and if I miss, such is life. I have noticed that it kind of psychs out the opposition if every time they bid your bid is instantly higher. Of course with an ultra rare NOS part it is impossible to predict the outcome, especially with snipers out there.

I thought maybe $400, even $500 at the outside. The final price surprised me I guess.
There can't be many of those out there. I wonder who the hi bidder was?
Dan????

I could have bought one of those 2 years ago from a guy at the Charlotte autofair for $200, but it was the last day when I saw it and I was out of $$$.  It was NOS and still in the box.  I felt pretty stupid later for not finding some cash and getting it.

How does that go?  "A day late, a dollar short"? Well sometimes, anyway.
Brian, I just  did the same thing last week at the first swap here in Lincoln. Came across a rather unusual piece of '65 literature . Have never seen it before , neither has gs sizzler. I failed to get back to the vendor. Well I did manage to to get in contact with them and purchased it today. Have it on the way. :icon_biggrin:
