Just returned from E. Moline, IL after attending the AACA National Meet there. Showed the Verde Howitzer and it won a Senior award, the next step in the AACA hierarchy of awards. Next step will be showing and judging at an AACA Grand National meet and the next one will be held a year from now in E. Moline, IL. Not sure it will be in the same indoor venue where the show was held this year, but will be either in E. Moline or across the Mississippi in Iowa. I hope to attend. Here are a couple pictures of the VH at the event.

My friend that painted the Verde Howitzer went along with me to experience his first AACA event. He has done concours restoration of several Pontiacs including several years of GTOs. And he's won top awards at Pontiac meets but had never been to a show like this where so many different makes and models were shown and judged. There were no other Skylark GS cars there and the Verde Howitzer was the only car in its class. Here are other Buicks shown and judged:

Here is a very special Buick that blew me away. Read the poster first, then look at the gorgeous vehicle! The engine is very interesting and a work of engineering art!
-
A couple of really cool Mopars. Those cross ram intakes with dual quads are also engineering art!
-
Both green cars very nice, congratulations. Jim

And a couple of cool Fords....

A big congratulations and thank you for getting Verde Howitzer such a grand award. You certainly worked hard and long to get here. Your quality of restoration shows the pride we share in our cars.

Chuck
Congratulations
After seeing your car this year at the BCA Nationals it doesn't surprise me one bit at the AACA success.
You deserve it every bit.
Thanks again for showing the world what the 1965 Buick GS is all about.

Thanks all for the kind comments. It is fun to hear the comments from people attending these events. And there were a lot of non-member local people that attended on Saturday; even quite a few families and young children. Lots of positive comments on the car, stuff like " Nice Car!". But the second most common comment makes be smile..."I didn't know you could get a 4-speed in a Buick!"
Also, just like at BCA events, it was nice to meet many fellow enthusiasts and swap stories about our cars and other experiences.
And a couple of final comments. First, there were more Buicks there, but they were newer models that I didn't take pictures of. Many, like me, were at both the BCA and AACA meets. Lastly, the prime rib dinner served on a cruise in a sternwheeler down the Mississippi on Friday night was really good!! :hello2:

Jim, I doubt that you're missing anything. Most obvious are the two holes forward of the horn relay. I don't know what those were used for. And a few on the lower inner fender on the passenger side. Way at the bottom. Does this answer your question?

Congratulations Chuck! I like the sign board too.
Thanks Don. The display board was done by my friend and fellow 65 GS owner Bob Bowen. He's an artist by trade, so did a very professional job!
