Mystery Solved!

Ahh, the trusty old muffler bearing. Extremely hard to find replacements.

What's the part number? Is it for 65 GS's?
-
Yes, you have to use your imagination! :laughing7:

It appears that you ran it with the wrong lubricant Chuck. Apparently the pipe overheated and spun right out of the center. I usually soak mine in the oil bath air cleaner on my lawn mower before installation.

Great tip, thanks Dan!! :cheers2:

I have had the best luck with those when lubricating with blinker fluid.

Another great tip. Thanks Jim!

Part Number is OU812
-
Is that part number the same for both sides? I also use blinker oil. Just picked up a new can at NAPA.

When Navy aviation electricians where calibrating compass or inertial navigation systems they would send the new Airman in search of relative bearing grease. The Mechanics would send their newbie off looking for a gallon of prop wash.
